seriously...clottey has a very underrated lead right hand. its fast, accurate and he times it perfectly. he also can throw it from a very far distance, watch his fight with judah. and i have a feeling pacquiao wont be able to get a way from it. cotto doesnt really have much of a right hand, he mainly uses it to set up punches for his left hand. im not saying this means clottey will win, but pacquiao is going to have a hellacious time getting away from that punch. hes also going to struggle more than he did with cotto to keep clottey from getting inside and working the body, which also could be very detrimental. just pointing some things out to y'all.
I am with you. When has Clottey ever been easy for anyone?
The thing I don't like about Clottey is his spells of inactivity. That really bugs me with a fighter as dynamic as Pac.
But he can back Pac off, if he chooses to throw more, but it just doesn't seem to be his nature to dig too deep, but this is the biggest fight of his life and most likely his last chance so I am hoping he brings it.
Yeah J, I hope Clottey digs deep like you say so we can have an excellent fight. I guess we'll know a lot more about him on that night, how he acts in his biggest fight.
Clottey will have his moments, but he will simply get outworked. Hope Im wrong and he makes a real fight out of it though. But I dont see him getting knocked out. I wasnt shocked to see the Hatton KO (as vicious as it was) and I was surprised Cotto lasted as long as he did. So Im not short changing Pac or his power. But the best he can hope for are some knock downs with his quick punches from weird angles.
All boxing people know this is a tough fight for Pacquiao.
Clottey doesn't need to be PPV material to be a massive challenge. He doesn't need to be PPV material to be a top 5 welterweight in the world.
Pull back the curtains. 'Fans' are only giving credence to 'popular' fights or fights generating massive revenue.
Again, Clottey is a top 5 WW. In any era of the sport this is a real fight.
People disputing this fight from the start makes me laugh.
I think Clottey is a legit challenge but I'm not buying cause we all know the fight is rigged, judges R bought off, and Pac wont lose unless he is KO'd. The fight is predetermined, its Y no one cares.

Based on who Pac had to choose between at the time (Mayweather, Mosley, Foreman, Clottey) i would agree he was the easiest and most tailor made for Pacs style of fight.
what are you talking about?
mayweather negotiations fell apart. mosley was still scheduled to fight berto. foreman's nothing but a paper champ.
You call Clottey a cherry pick ??! You must be either completely dumb or Pacquiao is really that great such that a fighter like Clottey is considered a cherry pick !

the people who are dismissing this fight and claiming that its gonna be a blowout are just giving manny credit for being that good.
clottey will be a tougher matchup than cotto and COULD be a tougher matchup than mosley.
unlike many of manny's most recent opponents, clottey is a 2 fisted fighter with a very sharp straight right (which could be a reason why manny's doing more work in the orthodox stance). he's a bigger fighter than cotto. he's got a tighter defense than cotto and has a much better chin than cotto.
also, some of the most dangerous fighters are the good, tough luck fighters who have nothing to lose. clottey fits the bill.
im expecting a good scrap. if its a blowout in manny's favor that would just be a testament to manny's greatness.
Pac is going to dismantle Clottey and that is the truth. Clottey is way too stationary and has problems with movements, doesn't throw punches and hides in that turtle shell defense when opponents throws punches in bunches at him. Problem is Pac never stops throwing punches. If you think that little flash KO that Cotto dropped him with was anything wait till pac hits him at one of those weird angles. TKO for Pac. Clottey will be Pac's punching bag. Im just being real as i really like Clottey as a fighter but he stands no chance in this fight.
Clottey will get his licks in from a counterpunching stance. I don't see him coming at Pac and firing lead rights. This is ideal for Clottey and I'd love him to do it, but it just isn't his thing.

Bottom line is if you don't train 100% for Clottey he will give you problems. Can be beat but you have to come in your best, can't half ass your trainning to fight this guy

Lets hope he tags him a few times. This is the whole point of boxing. Competetive fights. No point in watching someone dominate for 12 rounds
if Pac uses the same strategy as he did against delaHoya
I love that strategy. The first time I saw it was the Larios fight, round 5. Good round for Manny.
End of the round looks like how he approached the Oscar fight.
2:04 is nice as well. :fing02:

Im expecting Pac to beat his ass pretty bad. Clottey is too stationary for him. Case in Point: Watch Clottey struggle to find Cotto. Watch Cotto pop that lead left at :7 seconds. Watch how when Cotto moved Clottey tried to cut the ring off. ONE problem his hands were down. He doesnt guard himself when his opponent is moving.
The problem with Clottey is he stays in his shell during opponent's flurries. He waits for them to stop before he goes on the offensive.
Tell me how Clottey will land anything on Pacquiao when Pacquiao never stops punching. Specially if you just sit there in your shell expecting him to stop punching. :dunno:
That's why I will be surprised if Clottey even lands anything flush on Pacquiao. Body shot or face, don't matter, anything flush.
Who knows. I guess if you are basing how he will perform on the Cotto fight, then yes, it's possible. If he's got any sense (and I'm sure he has) he will come with a different approach. Personally I think he will be more aggressive and throw more. I don't get the feeling he's stupid enough to stand there and let Manny explode for 12 rounds.
