(Note: Forget the top guys no way that gets sanctioned
1. Patrick "HD" Barry (4-1 MMA, 18-6 K1)-Kickboxer and Sanshou fighter recently KO'd Antoni Hardonk
2. Gilbert Yvel (36-14 MMA, 1-1 K1)-Kickboxer and Jiu Jitsu Fighter
3. Kimbo Slice (4-1 MMA)-Holds Submission victory over Ray Mercer
Toney's chances:
He's either gonna get kicked to death, choked out or a limb broken.
He could beat Kimbo for sure, that guy has no ground game and is all stand up.
It would basically be a boxing match with the UFC gloves.
I saw Kimbo a couple months ago at ATT (American Top Team) in Ft Laud and his ground game has actually gotten real good.
He's a cool dude too, very reserved and laid back.
You'd think that, but it isn't the case. He's doing it to get ESPN off of Herschel Walkers nuts.
Where did walker sign? Strikeforce? What u said is probably true but the general public probably care/know more about walker than toney.
It's very easy to make an excuse for an out of shape near 50 year old man who was there to take part in a "worked" contest. Not so much for a former ufc champion in his early 30's who got knocked out cold in under ten seconds.
Who goes to an MMA fight and expects to box? The event wasn't a fix and now you are just making pathetic excuses.
Sylvia agreed to box Mercer because he's a dumshit, and shitty striker to begin with, everyone knew he was going to get tooled if he decided to stand.
So really that fight isn't an indicator of anything relating to boxing being better than MMA. It's an indicator of a shitty striker deciding to stand-up with a good boxer, instead of taking him down where he'd certainly be tooled in a matter of seconds.
Stop pretending to be a boxing fan.You don't have a clue about the sport and I doubt you've ever watched a fight of the guy in your avatar.
I've watch Gamboa fight several times. Gamboa/JML 2010. Please!
Stick to watch glass jawed grapplers roll around on the ground.
Whatever, ***. If you hate MMA so much why do you continually post in that section?
James Toney is crazy I thought it was funny at first but now that he is really doing MMA I don't what to say. I don't see it ending good for James you can't shoulder roll a head kick
Ray Mercer said that they had agreed that they wouldn't take the fight to the ground, so he was caught off guard when Kimbo immediately went for the takedown.
They made no such agreement in that fight. They made that agreement in the Sylvia fight, not the Mercer fight.
Get it right and stop trying to make an excuse for him getting choked out by a boatyard street fighter
How much is he weighing nowadays? I doubt he'd make 205? He's gonna be the sacrificial lamb. Dana wants to show mma > boxing.

Cain velasquez
Carwin
Noguiera
Lesnar
Mir
Kongo
Kimob actually choked out Ray Mercer in an exhibition bout and currently training at ATT to learn grappling.

I hope an mma fighter thinks they can slip a right hand through before taking Toney down. They'll be catching a counter right and going to sleep.
Toney is shot and has some pretty lazy footwork nowadays, so he's gonna have to end it before they take it to the ground.
I watch major fights mostly but had only seen Roy Nelson once before he was on the show during the hybrid boxing/MMA card with RJJ/Shieka.
Roy Nelson's ground game is very good, he beat Frank Mir in a grappling torunament some years ago. If he got Toney to the ground, which I think he most likely would unless Toney has good TDD, it would be over for him.
It's most likely Randy Couture.
If Randy can get Toney against the fence, it's pretty much a done deal. Couture will rough him up against the cage and physically wear him out. Toney would likely be gassed before the fight hits the ground.
I saw the Ray Mercer fight but he just looked like he couldn't do anything against Nelson at all on the ground....I mean he could be improving IDK yet but I think he has the tendency to want to keep in on the feet.
Of course he couldn't because Nelson is light-years ahead of him in grappling.
I take it you don't watch much MMA

Kimbo isn't completely one dimensional. He is training at ATT alongside his brother, Rhadi, who is a very accomplished Judoka, and he displayed a bit of that in his last fight.
But I doubt the UFC gives Toney the luxury of a push-over for his first fight.
I'm curious to see if he will be fighting at LHW or HW.
I don't see him doing very well, anyone who fights him who isn't a complete moron or a can (which the UFC doesn't have very many of) will likely beat him pretty handily.
From what I've seen and heard, Toney doesn't seem to fully grasp exactly what he's getting into.
UFC doesn't co promote
yeah i almost forgot that but that would be a good matchup eventually but if james toney had the work ethic of walker he would have retired a champion in boxing already
