I honestly think Pavlik would have an easier time with Williams. Williams' size is a problem for most other fighters, but Pavlik is roughly the same size. And Williams did win a close decision over Martinez, so you would think he would be first in line.
I also think the fight vs. Martinez is a bigger risk for Pavlik than Williams because of styles. Williams is easier to hit than Martinez and his movement isn't as good. Pavlik can't afford to lose anytime soon because of his inactivity and way he lost to Hopkins. This is a make or break fight for Pavlik, and he has good chance of winning, but there's also a good chance of him getting schooled worse than the he did against the Hopkins fight.
I think he should have went after Williams first and then Martinez. If he loses to Martinez, he probably won't have a chance to fight Williams anymore.
he wants to fight a big name, afte loosing to hopkins he needs a big name under his belt to get back on top.
Yeah, but Williams is a bigger name than Martinez.
Maybe, but I think there's a chance of Martinez being too slick for Pavlik. There styles are interesting. I am worried because I am a Pavlik fan and Williams has been growing on me the last year and a half so I really want to see them fight.
I see either Martinez getting brutally knocked out or Pavlik getting schooled for 12 rounds. I just don't remember seeing Pavlik fight a guy with good defense besides Hopkins and we all know how that turned out.
Differemce is Hopkins was an 180 Pound tank. Martinez is basically a JMW. He wont be able to do what Hopkins did. He fights with his hands down and will be easy pickings for Pavliks jab. Then ofcourse the right hand. Martinez gasses out too and Pavliks body work will will take steam out of him and slow him down.
Yeah I hope it still happens as well. He will beat Martinez easy IMO. Pavlik is too big and strong for him.

At this point, Williams deserves 50-50 if not more. Pavlik hasn't done much since losing to Hopkins. Meanwhile, Williams dominated Winky and had a fight of the year with Martinez.
I give Pavlik respect for taking on a fighter who has a riskier style for him than Williams. I am just saying he should have fought The Punisher and hopefully he still does if he can get past Martinez.

He signed to fight Williams twice and backed out. Williams wanted 50-50 and upfront money just incase he pulled out again.
