I'm just wondering, cuz I know alotta Mayweather fans are Williams fans also, and I have heard much itsh talked about Pavlik ducking this guy and that and fighting tomato cans. Well now Pavlik is essentially mirroring Floyd, and fighting the next best guy at 160 (It is Martinez, let's be clear about that). Let's not argue over who he shoud be fighting. He's fighting the #2 challenger, as far as I'm concerned. So Floyd fans, here's the question. Is Pavlik a scared punk or is he making an effort to take on top opposition ?
It's an insult to Floyd Mayweather to mention him in the same sentence as Kelly Pavlik.
Call Floyd whatever you want, I don't care, but fighting Lockett, getting beat up by a 44year old Hopkins, fighting Rubio, & Espino can't be compared to fighting DLH, Hatton, Marquez and now Mosley. At least Floyd is fighting name opponents who some boxing fans gave them chances to beat Floyd. Pavlik has been fighting no hopers after his Taylor win and even cherrypicked Hopkins thinking he was going to KO him. Martinez is the first fight after Hopkins that fans see it as 50-50. The only fight Floyd was in that almost nobody gave his opponent a chance to win was against Marquez and there were several people thinking Marquez can pull it off.
Like I said, call Floyd whatever you want, it doesn't bother me. But don't try to compare him to Pavlik please that's just crossing the line.
Nobody is comparing Floyd to Pavlik, you need to relax. I was comparing their actions when it comes to taking on opponents in their last few fights. Hatton and Marquez are Floyd's last two opponents. They were both given much less than a 50-50 shot, if I recall. And Pavlik fighting Hopkins was just as much a challenge as Floyd fighting DLH, regardless of results. I am talking about QUESTIONING COURAGE, not comparing the two fighters resumes. Relax.
Floyd stans don't have the right to knock any fighter's courage
and Floyd stans don't like Williams anymore
they hopped off that bandwagon
Williams challenged Floyd, so the Paul nuthugging is dead
Milton's the only one of them who truly rode for Williams
thats not true at all... my favorite two fighters are pwill and may
A past it De La Hoya.
Undersized, overrated Ricky Hatton.
WAY undersized, past it JMM.
Refused to fight Pacquiao under the same rules every fight in history have used.
But that's not even the point of this thread, and DLH, Hatton and JMM are all bigger names. But there were much better, more challenging fights to be made. Floyd can be criticized too. I just haven't because he's fighting Shane now, and I respect that. Obviously you seem to feel the double standard applies though when it comes to Pavlik taking on Martinez.
Mayweather would beat Rubio, Lockett and Espino damn near to death.

martinez is a top level opposition, but all i have to say is that its about damn time he faced someone worth a damn... other than bhop and taylor he has faced no one.. sorry to say but thats the truth...
wait, what? I'm trying to defend Pavlik fighting Martinez.
 My bad sorry...I misunderstood your intent. I retract the 'sucks' smiley.
Anyhow, I really think that KP's courage does not need to be defended, especially from overzealous Floyd fans...
Should be a good fight. :boxing:
I don't think he's ducked anyone. Arum should've made more effort to get Arthur Abraham over to the states for a fight when he was still at 160, but aside from that I don't really think the reasons for Pavlik's lack of opposition since mid 2008 can be attributed to anything other than injuries and lack of solid challengers. And if Marco Rubio hadn't been so gun shy in their fight, I think Pavlik would get a little less crap, because Rubio was supposed to be at least troublesome if not at least a small threat. Not Pavlik's fault that once Rubio felt the power of the Ghost in the opening round he curled up into a ball til the corner stopped it.
exactly...pavlik dont duck anyone..hes a good fighter
Espino.
Lockett.
Rubio.
Pulled out of two Williams fights.
A past it De La Hoya.

Thank you and now he's fightin' the guy that P-dub went life and death with to gain a controversial decision.
:sucks:

I'm a Pavlik fan and I love the Martinez fight, but calling Martinez the second best MW is asinine. Based on a close fight that he lost to a guy that can fight at 147 as well? Sturm, Sylvester, all those Euro guys have a much better claim at being #2 behind Kelly than Martinez or Williams.
I think Martinez beats Sturm or Sylvester. You have to at least admit that he is a serious, serious challenge to either of them, and Pavlik as well.
thats bull sh*t...kelly had a infection problem etc when he was gonna fight paul...apart from that i reckon the two fighters will maybe fight sooner or later...but i doubt kelly pavlik is a ducker..

not a big pavlik fan, but this fight was dope.
THERES A BRAND NEW MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION AND HE'S FROM YOUNGSTOWN OHIO!
I was so happy for The Ghost man...that was one hell of a fight for as long as it lasted.
thats bull sh*t...kelly had a infection problem etc when he was gonna fight paul...apart from that i reckon the two fighters will maybe fight sooner or later...but i doubt kelly pavlik is a ducker..

Til the end bro. Most of the Floydies dont even like Williams because they know Paul would most likely beat that ass.
