"The intelligence doesn't change from 21 -- the age at which Mayweather won his first championship -- to now.
The ability to react upon it can.
Mayweather acknowledges there are subtle signs that he has slipped some, knows what they are and coyly refuses to discuss them. His father, Floyd Sr., said he has seen some tell-tale signs, too."

physically yes, he may be slipping as all athletes do at a certain age... but das where improvising come into play, using ur smarts instead of physically... bhop is a testament to this.. Floyd's gonna be just fine
Man why everytime you post its go to be something sarcastic. Get over your fukking self. He said all the time hes addicted to training. His dad said it, he said it, Jeff and Roger also said it.
Floyd over trains. He should be slipping. He knew how to throw a jab before he could walk.
*DEAD*
Ok Timmy...LOL

LOL why do you talk about Floyd as if you're in the living room with him right now? You're just a fan just like everyone else. If his mother, father, uncles, etc put up any news story you treat it like it's the New Testemant of the Bible (King Floyd version of course).
Floyd is an exceptional athlete who consistently stays in shape. Him being a gym rat doesn't mean he over trains.
BTW, do you have old home videos of that Mayweather jab before he knew the concept of walking? :biggthump
How would you assume he overtrains if you've never been in the gym with him?

Any man is quicker at age 21 compared to after he hits 30 years old. That doesn't matter though. Floyd has much more experience now. Its like this with all fighters.
Depends on the competition at the time as well. Hopkins has beaten names like Winky, Tarver, Pavlik (at 170lbs) in his last fights who except for Pavlik were well beyond their time and it being Pavlik's 1st fight at 170lbs.
Floyd could potentially have these names win or lose on his resume in the next 2-3 yrs:
Pacquiao
P. Williams
Cotto
Berto
Bradley
Khan
I think with this stock of fighters at 140-147 (154?) I see Floyd retiring well before he reaches 40, and fighting a good amount of those names will give him much more of a fight than I believe Hopkins went through as of late. It'll be interesting to see.
It would be interested I wasn't saying he would continue to fight past 40, or that he would without getting beat at some point, but he could if he wanted. Mind you i think he has at least 5 more years in his prime based on his defensive skills, he doesn't take too many hard shots to the chin, to keep winning.

If floyd beats all those fighters you listed.. I will take back every bad thing I said about Floyd.. and become a bigger fan then Larry X and Burner combined.. I will even smoke some crack with Sr..
Hes a 33 year old guy whos been overtaining his whole life he should be slipping.

I think Mayweather, like B-Hop can go late into his career on skill.

Once that leaves, you better believe Floyd will bow out of the sport. Reflexes also have a lot to do with your movement and footwork. Without those, Floyd's style that got him to where he is will no longer be effective.

He is 33 years old, not 23. He's also a former SFW fighting at WW and has fought as high as JMW. He started his whole boxing career at 106lbs in the Amateurs. It's around this age that boxers, no matter how good they are, show signs of slipping. I'll give him 2 more years to officially show signs of being past prime. So by 36 he'll be very beatable by some young up & coming lion like Versatile 2K10, imo.
Inactivity is a part of it, he doesn't throw as much as he used to and seems lazier in the right, but when your getting up there in your early-mid 30's and taking 2 years off, it's impossible to look top notch.
I think his performance against Marquez was very impressive, but i'll admit with him slipping slightly since his prime. The thing is even slipping slightly he's still faster then most fighters today, and his boxing skills will keep him at the top of the sport long after his reflexes are past their prime.

Yes I see sign of slippage in Mayweather. Back then he could dodge the Mosley fight and still look smooth. Now he can't do that anymore, his ducking and dodging skill isn't on par as before.
Every fighter goes through the motions of getting older, but it's not to say Floyd is going to get the Antonio Tarver type of treatment against Mosley or anyone.
I've always said Floyd will lose a fight or 2 later in his career to younger, fresher opponents.
He doesnt throw nearly as much combos as he used to,and he doesnt rely on his shoulder roll as much as before,so in that department maybe, but hes still as smart/smarter then ever
he hasn't slipped too much. you're only as good as you looked against your last opponent.
everyone thought mosley was done after mayorga, then he beats margs and he's "reborn."
if floyd beats shane in emphatic fashion, all this shit will be quieted.
