I know we can pick holes in all 3 channels. But HBO and Showtime's coverage urinates and at times defecates on Sky Sports. Firstly, I can't stand it on Sky when they don't let you hear what the corners are saying, they talk over it. Secondly, they don't provide a translator and thirdly, even light swearing is given an apology even at 3 in the morning.
lol, yeah he was.
I just think overall the sky commentators dont know much compared to the HBO and Showtime. Jim Watt is so annoying, He is like an even worse scottish version of Larry Merchant.
Yeah but at least when Larry Marchant finally gets something out, he usually makes a good point. I'm still yet to find anything Jim Watt says remotely interesting.
Over all I don't mind Sky too much. Ian Darke is very knowledgable, a good commentator, Brit bias aside! Adam Smith is far too excitable and he gets on my nerves. Ditto for Watt; Watt's a lunatic, he shouts right into the mic. The best Sky commentary team is Darke/McCrory. HBO's okay, Lampley overdescribes the fights a lot though, I've noticed, sometimes he goes on a 20-30 second monologue where he's basically just describing the action even though we can SEE IT, i.e. 'Good left hook there by Pacquiao, but Cotto comes right back. Cotto moving forward, lands a left jab. Didn't faze Pacquiao, he comes back with two flush shots. Cotto backing away....' etc. etc. ( I made that commentary up, you get my meaning). Lederman, at times, is a total buffoon. His scoring is sometimes awful. But he's pretty funny. 'A fighter can only be saved by the bell in the twelfth and final round...JIM!!!!' I actually quite like Merchant, and I think Steward is a great analyst. Lewis is pretty hit or miss
These are my favorite Darke quotes (caps are necessary to indicate how emotional Darke was at the time):
"I'M ALRIGHT HE SAID, WHAT BRAVERY!"--commentating on Hatton telling Cortez he was okay after getting KD by PBF.
"HE TOOK THAT SHOT JIM, HE TOOK IT!"--On Kahn's ability to take Barrera's punch.
Stuff like that and his overall nuthuggery make me dislike him. Steve Albert is the best, IMO.
"Oooooohhhh his legs did a SILLY DANCE there, didnt they Jim?"

It really makes me very angry when they apologise for the corner swearing. It makes you miss what the corner is saying.
ITV coverage is much better but now there coverage had gone. Sky need to sign some talent bring in the legend Barry Mcguigan, hell bring in Frank Bruno, he'd be a laugh!
I see what your saying but you must be getting more than me on sky because it normally switches to adverts inbetween rounds!!! fcukin hate that.
yep an advert, followed by a 10 second highlight of the round

thank **** someone realised that.
Watt can be funny at times, and sometime really annoying, unlike Lederman who annoys the **** out of me everytime he opens his mouth.
Sky sports do need a couple of new experts though.
I completely agree. Sky Sports coverage is completely inferior to it's US counterparts. The commentary is poor and the general presentation is just lackluster. It's bearable but could really do with a major overhaul in all areas.
I kind of like Darke and Adam Smith, I think they call the action well. Watt is past it and McCrory has dissapointed me lately but is not bad.
