"I've had him in there with real good fighters," Parra said. "I took him to work with Jorge Linares for a couple weeks before he lost his title. I just got him done with Antonio DeMarco, getting him ready for Edwin Valero and he's no joke. Mercito is as good, if not better, than any of those guys.
"And the people on the inside that know, when Gesta came over he was part of the same kind of class as Bernabe Concepcion, Nonito Donaire, and all those guys that came around the same time.
"The people who know, they will tell you that Mercito's probably the best of the bunch."

havent really seen him fight, but i'll be lookin out for this guy. he sounds exciting and hungry
I've been following the development of several Filipino boxers... but this is the first time I've heard of this guy...
Has a decent record though... 16( 6 way by KO)-0-1...
I think he is also handled my Manny Pac... just like bernabe conception...
just saw some clips. fast hands, good right hook, but other than that, cant really say a whole lot about his style since he was just steamrolling his opponents with a barrage of punches.
wonder if he's gonna stick at lightweight though. hes only 5'5 and doesnt look like hes got the length to compensate
