An excellent read, covers everything from Roy's meeting with Ali years ago, to the details of the contract (sounds like Roy got screwed). Very, very sad.
Margaret Goodman (who succeeded Homansky as chief ringside physician for the Nevada State Athletic Commission) concurs, saying, “Out of all the fighters I worked with when I was with the commission, the one I felt the most privileged to work with was Roy. This makes me so sad. It’s not whether or not Roy can pass the medical tests. I’m sure he can. All that will mean is that they’re giving him the wrong tests. This isn’t just a medical decision. It’s a boxing decision. Roy’s ability to avoid punches and handle punches when they land has deteriorated to the point where this fight shouldn’t be allowed to happen. Roy is a fighter at risk. Red warning lights are flashing. Roy will take punishment in training and he’ll take more punishment in the fight. To think that this could happen in Nevada, which once prided itself on having the highest medical standards in the country for boxing, is a travesty and an embarrassment.”

Here is one:
She said Main Events "has agreed to Golden Boy's terms. We have agreed on all the material terms -- the split, the site, everything."
The date would be Jan. 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., where Adamek has been drawing crowds for his past few fights. The split between Hopkins -- who turns 45 on Jan. 15 -- and Adamek would be approximately 60-40 in Hopkins' favor.

Gracias. Who gets the extra 500k? Very silly hold-up.
This is boxing, anything can happen. Same things were being said about Pavlik-Hopkins. Look how that turned out. Hopkins can beat the hell out of Roy, or Roy can dominate Hopkins to a wide UD. Who knows.
Here's a more detailed article concerning the Hopkins-Adamek fight:

Only at specific times. He continues to stand with his right hand out, with his fist facing his face, and his left down by his waist, especially after he jabs, and it has led to him getting KOed on two separate occasions.
After the 3 losses.. he did the Winky style for 3 straight fights, until he lost to Calzaghe doing that..
Actually, he did...

Hopkins low balled adamek the first time around. Admak's people basically said be serious.
Hopkins and golden boy later met with adamek's people in person and they agreed to a 60/40 split.
You have a link? Not saying you're lying but I definitely don't remember them agreeing to a 60-40 split.
That was the original offer. They brought back another offer that Main Events seemed on board for but HBO was having budget issues and wanted the fight to take place in early '10. Adamek's people didn't want to wait since he had been inactive for a while so they went ahead and took the Golota fight. Here's the article that was published here:

I think you have the wrong link there.
And if a deal does get done, does Adamek just sit around and wait for the 2010 fight? Not likely. I see Adamek being active until the end of year, but Hopkins is so demanding in terms of the opponents that he wants, and the money that he wants, that he probably won't see action until a major check is on the table. But, if a deal is reached after the month of July, HBO tends to have contract clauses that forbid a fighter from taking a bout prior to his HBO-televised date. The network does not want to risk a fighter getting injured and then a television date getting shelved
Like Roy Jones
60/40 in hopkins favor. I don't remember the exact details of the purse but it sounded pretty reasonable. The problem was HBO was late on releasing their budgets for 2010 (and were expecting budget cuts for boxing of course) which held things up and they wouldn't commit. Meanwhile Adamek had the opportunity to make some good money in Poland against Golota and rather than wait and see if HBO would put up the money, he took the fight.
It was actually 70=30 if not worse.
They offered Adamek 500,000, right? It was published here on boxingscene. I doubt very much that was 60-40.

yeah I remember HBO not willing to put up the funds.
HBO is stupid when it comes to adamek, then turned down a few fights of his.
Usually when HBO can't put up the funds it means someone is asking for too much. Maybe the split wasn't right. That certainly was Main Events complaint.
I only want to see him fight Dawson.
Hopkins in 08 would have beat him then imo. Now it would be an unwatchable fight resulting in a controversial SD either way.
Obviously not, but he should have atleast worked on keeping his hands up, and tying up.
Hahaha. He did both fine. Not great, but fine. He was textbook in his own way. The way he fired the right, and used that same arm to protect his chin against Tarver II was perfect--the exact way a Mayweather or Toney would do it. Only the right missed and Tarver didn't care. He stepped right in and flattened him with that short left.
I think he did, bully. He slowed down and was still winning easy but deteriorated once he came back from heavy. You can't fine tune age.

Adamek would have been an easy win for Hopkins imo for another lineal title.
Maybe. Probably. Truthfully, I don't know what Hopkins has left. But I know he wasn't willing to make it worth Adamek's time.
