I'm sure we are going to get a thousand Mayweather replies, some pissed off Whitaker replies saying that "Floyd ain't shit compared to Sweet Pea", maybe a Winky Wright reply here or there, but... I'm mostly interested in those that haven't been brought up a million times.
I kind of rewatched Guzman vs. Soto tonight, and my god, Guzman slipped so many of the shots so well. That was a really fun fight to watch, even if it wasn't the most violent I've ever seen.
As much as I don't like him I think Pauli showed great defense in both of his fights with Diaz and has over his career in general.
He's a guy with very little power and prefers to box and move but never in a way that you can call him a runner.
diaz was too small to even reach him. paulies defense isn't very good when he fought people his own size like cotto, hatton or ngoudjo. for a "slick" boxer he sure gets hit a lot.
Hopkins vs Tito. Infact, no one talks about it but I thought that Hopkins KO was maybe the best, most skilled thing I have ever seen in boxing. He toyed with him all night but the KO was crazy how he knew Tito was going to throw the left hook, Hopkins blocked it with his own left arm, then came right back with the right hand that dropped him. Maybe most beautiful thing Ive ever seen. People forget how much of a beast a prime Hopkins was.
Locche vs Fuji - 1968
- Fuji refused to start the 10th round out of frustration because of exhaustion and his inability to connect punches.
Now THATS defence.
