I was doing some what-ifs regarding the outcome of the groupstages in the super-six.
It appears that it is possible for the WBA-belt to stay out of the finals which in my view is most unfortunate.
Here's my scenario in the last 2 stages:
Stage 2:
Froch beats Kessler and keeps the WBC belt.
Direll beats AA
Green beats Ward BY KO and takes the WBA belt
Stage 3:
AA beats Froch and takes the WBC belt
Ward beats Direll
Kessler beats Green on points and takes the WBA belt.
Final standings (top 4 advances to the semis):
AA 5 points (WBC)
Ward 4 points
Froch 4 points
Green 3 points
Direll 2 points
Kessler 2 points (WBA)
That way Kessler is knocked out of the tournament, but takes the WBA belt with him.
You could say that belt are unimportant in this tourney. I disagree as a unified champion coming out is significant.
Thoughts?
froch is going to win the tourney... going to knock kessler out in denmark...
Froch would get knocked out by Abraham. Styles make fights, he would stand and trade with Abraham and outwork him at times but Abraham would connect in 12 rounds and when he does..
to this sub-topic: WBA
Ward is the WBA Super champ and Sartison won the regulare WBA belt, which was vacate.
I hope the UnisversumBP boxer Sartison will face the SES boxer Stieglitz (if he wins against EDDY Gutknecht, who beat Karoly Balzsay) for an unification bout.
this would be great
hell yea muthafukka!

IF AA were to win the tournament, with his pop, he'd emerge as the sort of multi-national star the German market has yet to produce below Heavyweight in the recent surge. Combine that with the crowds Bute is already pulling and HBO exposure.
Cha-Ching$ on neutral U.S. turf.
That's just one example.
Bute has to stay though. If Pascal beats Dawson, I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Pascal-Bute at Olympic Stadium. They could fill the joint.
If Bute doesn't lose in the interim, and could get one of the major Middles to step up and maybe win the other available belt, no one in Super Six is going to have a strong claim without him. I like the tournament on that ground. It's not an end but a possible step to something even bigger.
Imagine the Canadians and Germans filling Madison Square for a showdown like Bute-Abraham. Wow.

If anyone came out at 4-1 or 5-0, that's enough. Belts wouldn't really matter. Those belts are political instruments and economic markers; their status as achievements is highly variable.
For God's sake, Kessler's WBA belt was won about six months after losing the WBA title to Calzaghe...while Calzaghe hadn't yet vacated. "Super" title or not, that's just funny.
Absolutely. Especially the WBA is a joke. Imagine if Kessler came was knocked out of the tournament as I suggested. Then the WBA would have Sartison, who Kessler put in hospital, as their 'regular' champion and Kessler as the 'super' champion.
What a joke.
That's right. No doubt that the winner has the strongest claim to the SMW throne regardless. Coming out on top with such a strong field of fighters is a huge achievement.

jes, I mean it this way: not disputed.
and not the boxer who is undisputed champ with all belts.
no one would say:"Oh, well the winner of this tournement is a joke", but hes the truth the real champ at SMW:

I agree with ts in that, for me anyway, one of the belts not being kept in the tournament untill the final loses it part of it's legitimacy. I think it's very important that the tournament winner has as strong a claim to being the no1 at 168 as possible as this tourny needs to be as succsesfull as possible to give other promoters and networks the kick up the ass they need to put on more things like this in the future.

The ones i bolded are unlikely to happen. It's highly unlikely, but if it happens, then it happens, it would be very weird though.
i would say the same but the Kessler Froch could be a toss up
kessler dont look like the Kessler of old, I could see Froch having the power to KO Kessler

I got 2 Mill on Froch, want to bet?
Yep. Let's do it!
I'll put it in my bets thread.
Good luck. (You'll need it lol).
I just put it in my thread. noticed that I had 1M with -G-Loc- as well. Is that you as well?
froch will stop abraham... trust me...
Froch would get sparked by Abraham.Arthur has the better defense, better power, etc. When you have two fighters that fight toe to toe like they do,then it is an issue of who lasts...
I am more inclined to believe Abraham is the tougher of the two.IMO Carl will be lucky to win against Kessler-in fact,if Carl cannot force Mikkel to be on the back foot all night,I believe Mikkel can win-especially if Mikkel establishes his jab first.
Taylor-who is a pattern fighter like Kessler (and also relies on a jab to set things up) would have beaten Froch by merely taking a knee, and I believe Kessler can go 12 rounds with Froch without taking much punishment and Mikkel doesn't fade as poorly as Taylor...in fact,I am still wondering what Froch did to "win" his last fight against Dirrell.
haha, thats a funny tought - no unfi at the end and the "worst" boxer would be a champ leavin the super6 with a belt.
Im believn the winner of the Super 6 would be a unif. and undisp. world champ. of the world! + the ring belt
btw and thats gonne be King Arthur Abraham
Well technically the winner wont be undisputed as the IBF and WBO belts are missing.
It would be nice but it's no big deal if the belts are split. The Super Six winner likely looks like THE MAN if he wins and, if Bute is still rolling, you've got a fight to prove who the undisputable king is unless, as in your scenario, it's Green, and then at least there is still big business rematching to be done. I'll be doing a long piece on this same subject here pretty soon. It's fun to envision the directions it could all go.
Cool Cliff. I look forward to reading your piece.

I have this feeling that Kessler is done.
He looked like ass against Ward.
Froch doesn't have quite those skills so it's a pick em fight to me now.
Kessler could well be finito. His ex-trainer Olsen thinks he should call it a day.
Still as a Kessler fan I hope that a longer camp as the one he is getting now ensures the return of the Kessler of old. But if he loses badly to Froch he's officially shot...
