and floyd just obliged? Dudes actin like he went to look for marquez. Marquez after the diaz fight said he wanted to fight floyd to be the real P4P king. Floyd stood up to the man unlike manny's running punk ass.
No. Hater's ignore the fact that the same Marquez that stepped in the ring with Mayweather could have still given Pacquiao the third toughest fight of his life. Mayweather made it look too easy now people discredit Marquez, but PBF had the perfect gameplan.
actually If Marquez and Pac fought now Pac KO Marquez within 8 rounds. I say this because Marquez doesnt belong anywhere north of 135 and even Ricky Hatton beats Marquez at 140.
OSIRIS U evaded that questipn like a random drug test. The key word was Pure Boxer, not simply African American.
pure boxers....Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez were two of the best pure boxers in the lower weight classes. What are you talking about? Explain exactly what you mean because I would love to answer your question.
You ask if he has ever fougth a caribean black....what the hell do you think Eliceir Julio was?
If you are talking about him not facing an African American...Joshua Clottey has been living in NY for over 8 years or so and after 7 you technically become a U.S. citizen. Clottey is a true African American unlike me because I have never seen or been to Africa.
If you are claiming he hasn't fought pure boxers....what do you consider Marco Antonio Barrera or Juan Manuel Marquez. He even Cotto is a pure boxer in my book.

Now write a nice little explanation on why Pac has yet to face and African-American or African-Carribean/Hispanic pure boxer, I'll wait.
racist much...
he fought ledbawa how much blacker/African can you get. He is fighting Joshua Clottey who is technically an African-American. He is from africa but lives in America.
I'm black (flava flav black...lol) but I really don't consider calling myself African-American because I have never seen or been to africa (let alone live there). I'm simply an "American". I say this because whites don't say "Im Irish-American, German-American, English-American....they simply say there "American", so I do the same. When will you guys realize by saying "African-American" you playing into the 1900's thinking that we somehow don't belong here and are different.
Please dont come in here trolling we are having good boxing talk in this thread.
says the troll...
We are just trying to properly educate you with boxing facts. Please reply to my question.
Post your comment that Marquez was just a tune-up prior to his bout with Mayweather?
I'll wait... :blackeye:
and floyd just obliged? Dudes actin like he went to look for marquez. Marquez after the diaz fight said he wanted to fight floyd to be the real P4P king. Floyd stood up to the man unlike manny's running punk ass.
Obviously you never watched Marquez vs Manny 1 or 2.
Go Kill Yourself Troll.
Well what happened was that Manny was on a roll after he beat Barrera and even got the nickname "the Mexicutioner" (I lived in South Texas and the Every Mexican I knew hated Manny because of that). He then ran into Morales and got completely outclasses. Morales was even toying with him in the later rounds and seen by him switching stances and still working pac. Afterwards the only thing on Manny's man was a rematch and even though Morales got outboxed by Raheem....Manny still wanted to redeem himself.
I don't blame Pac for pick Morales instead of Raheem. If you rewatch that fight there is no way Pac, or any fighter, could live with atleast trying to redeem himself.
Since your a Pwill fan a good analogy was when PWilll was on a hot streak. He had completely owned Mitchell and also beaten the supposeling "Most avoided WW in Margarito". The stars were aligning for him to get a big shot at a title then Quintana happened. I know for a fact that the only thing on Pwill mind was to avenge that loss because even after the fight Paul knew Quintana wasn't better than him...he just had a bad night. Paul just like Manny proceeded to redeem themselves and did so in a brutal fashion. Both beat the Fukk outta the guys who had killed their buzz.....so agian I have no issues with someone wanted to seek revenge.
That’s an excellent post and thank you for educating Burner with some real boxing facts. We hope you educate him well so he can stop typing bull crap all day long.
Marquez was a tune up fight. I thought everyone knew this.
Can you post your comment about Marquez being a tune up prior to their bout?
I'll wait or else you're bullshitting again.
Yeah I noticed that as well. Not really Pacs fault. But he has a chance to fix that against Floyd. And people say Floyd never fought someone on his level so he has a chance to correct that if they fight.
Raheem vs. Manny would've been interesting. People say he was weight drained so I dont see why not move up to 135 and fight Raheem.

Yeah, I'm having trouble thinking of slick fighters as well.
Jones was pretty beaten up by the time Pacquiao got to 122. Freddie Norwood was shot to shit too.
Austin and Johnson fought in weight classes that Pacquiao skipped.
Was Ledwaba slick? I know nothing about him.
naah ledwaba was not slick at all. I think you didn't see too many slick fighter back then because those fighters already weren't making alot of money and by fighting "slick" you defiantly weren't selling fights.
Kelley, Jones, Hamed and a few others had the ability to fight slick (as seen several times throughout the begining of their careers) but that isn't what sold tickets and got them paid. After Hamed opened the door for little guys by bringing attention to the lower weight classes...we know see more smaller guys fighting diverse styles instead of fighting brawls to get fans/attention.
Everyone called out Floyd, but yet he chose to fight a featherweight. Floyd could have just made a tune up even agaisnt a Jr Welter at least then fight Shane Mosley, then Pac. This would be a good way for him to have gotten some respect from the critics, but the JMM fight was just a hoemove
this post alone OWNED this thread so i guess its
/Thread!!
austin and johnson but no rafa?.....lol.....if pac did'nt skip weightclasses he would be a 9 didv champ now...:boxing:.....jmm >>>>guzman and casa
Honestly both Marquez brother shocked me. Rafa didn't come onto the scene until he beat Austin. Austin was a hot prospect and one of the most impressive 118 lbs. I had seen in a long time. Rafa beat the fukk outta that guy and made a name for himself. Only problem was, If I'm not mistaken, it happened in 01 and by then Pac had already moved up an on. Marquez shocked the hell outa me when he beat gainer because Gainer had all the tools to become the man at 126. I even called gainer a bum for losing to a sorry a$$ Marquez. Never would I have imaged that Marquez was that good (as seen by his later fights.) After that....never again have I critized a fighter for losing a fight to an unkown guy because you never know how good that unkown fighter is.
dude, that was'nt for you....practice what you preach, please!
did i say that?......
Christ you are dumb.
We were talking about the "slick, defensive-minded" fighters that Pacquiao didn't fight.
You piped up and said something about Rafael Marquez, so... I was correcting you.
Austin, Johnson, Guzman and Casa come to mind.
Johnson was the slickest fighter as far as 115-122. The fight could have happened if Johnson would have stayed longer at 112 but he moved up because 115 was wide open due to Tapia leaving.
But for some odd reason Almost all those fighters were boxer punchers/brawlers 115-126. I still don't know why, but all I know is that they made for exciting fights.
Kelley
Jones
Barrera
Morales
Ayala
Tapia
Norwood
Austin
Ledbawa
McCullough
Gainer
Sanchez
Chacon
and almost everyone I could think of around that time fight a boxer/brawler type style. I think it had to do with no one caring about their fights and them adopting a more fan friendly fight style to sell fights. Marquez was different than everyone else but due to that he was always step-sonned as far as people giving a FVkk about his fights.
Tapia, Morales, Hamed and Barrera were the type of fighter that threw defense out the window and went balls to wall all fight long. They were the most popular, got the HBO dates, and made the most money so I think other fighers around those classes saw that and fought that type of style.
Damn now that mentioned Mosley vs. Tszyu at 140 wouldve been nuts man.
It would have been nuts. I haven't seen a ton of Tszyu, but he's a damn good boxer puncher.
I think Mosley's speed and chin would have worn Tszyu down throughout the fight for a Mosley victory.
But even so, Mosley jumped up to welter to fight P4P #1 Oscar De La Hoya. It's hard to complain about that.
Mayweather vs. Tszyu would have been tight. That is one fight that I believe had nothing to do with either fighter avoiding each other. I think it was HBO vs. Showtime, which is just really frustrating.
Mayweather had been calling his name since 130. I definitely think he was serious about wanting Kostya Tszyu.
austin and johnson but no rafa?.....lol.....if pac did'nt skip weightclasses he would be a 9 didv champ now...:boxing:.....jmm >>>>guzman and casa
Is Rafael Marquez particularly slick? Learn to read.
Austin, Johnson, Guzman and Casa come to mind.
Eh, I don't really believe that we can count Austin and Johnson.
I tell people to shut the **** up when they talk about Mosley ducking Kostya Tszyu too. It's just asinine in my opinion.
What amazes with Floyd is how he thinks. His eyes are wide open studying every single move his opponent makes then he stores the shit and capitalizes on it later. A good example of that is the Hatton fight. When Floyd came forward, Hatton also came forward trying to grab, wrestle and punch. BUT It was prolly the first round when Floyd took two steps backwards Hatton followed him with his hands down and his head perfectly still.
He stored and worked on it. MID-FIGHT. So BOOM. Throws the check hook. Grazes him with it through out the fight. Then finally 10th round. He lands a perfect one. Most Floyd fans didnt even realize that he set Hatton up fpr that punch since the fight started.
That is do the the way he trains. His training is about about reptition, adapting and memorizing...which is why you constantly see him and Roger on the pads. Again people laugh but that is the key to Floyd's ring IQ.
I say this because I use to do the same thing when I played b-ball and Football. I would spend hours upon hours each day going through every possible reaction/move my opponent could make. That way when I actually got in the game everything seemed like it was in slow motion. It's hard to explain but I know what it's like for Floyd when he is in the ring boxing. He has every scenario plaid out in his head to where the fight is so slow and he can control everything.
Pacquaio also does this and is just as good if not better than May in this department. There are some punches where pac just throws, even without looking or out of positon, and still lands with picture perfect accurancy.
Not to d1ck ride pac but here are a few examples
In Marquez II he ducks under a Marquez left, throw his own straight left and lands perfectly on Marquez chin without looking
In his Cotto fight (the second KD) he lands a right steps to the side and throws a left uppercut (knowing Cotto will be coming forward and the right lands). What happens in Cotto walks right into the uppercut and does his infamous salsa dance.
