would that be a good idea? what do you guys think?
i think that would be a dream scenario if floyd fights shane like how he fought N'dou, hatton, Chavez... i think it'd be more interesting that way
haha
but yea i wanna hear your guys's input on this:boxing:
Floyd doesnt fight on the inside
So dont expect for him to fight in the pocket. Floyd has his shoulder defense in which he lays on the ropes and slips punches and comes back with a mean counter right hand. Floyd isnt going to change over night for this fight to fight Shane on the inside. Shane would eat Floyd up on the inside. Floyd will box the way he has always boxed in all of his fights. Floyd doesnt change and thats why I feel that although he is a great defensive boxer, he is a one dimensional great defensive boxer. Floyd doesnt brawl, he doesnt come to knock anybody out, he comes to box the hell out of you without taking punishment AND IT WORKS FOR HIM!! Shane is a more versitile all around great fighter and that will be the difference. I wouldnt advise Floyd to fight in the pocket because it would take Floyd out of his natural element and play right into Shanes hands..
I'm sure Mayweather will have to fight Mosley in the pocket at times during the fight. Mosley likes to pressure and is more of brawler than a boxer, but Mosley doesn't have very good feet. He wont be able to force Mayweather to fight out of the pocket all night. Floyd will mix it up and keep Mosley guessing.
The only style any fighter needs to fight is the style that puts in the best position to win. Whether that be outside, mid-range, in the pocket or brawling.
Even though he doesn't do it anymore owner of the Raiders had it right with this basic statement "JUST WIN BABY"!!!!!!!
:lol1: Floyd would get murdered to the body if he sits in the pocket......I heard reebok is makin' him some special shoes for this one......the kind with wheels under the bottom because he will be on his bike in this one......he'll have to skate for 36 minutes to get W #41 :lol1:......all jokes aside, thats not good idea for Floyd......not at all!!!.....Shane is a BEAST to the body......and in the pocket Floyd would find out!!
Shane is too wily, too strong, and simply too good at that kind of fight for Floyd to win fighting in the pocket. Besides, if Floyd stays close Shane will be able to rough him up, which will probably be Shane's strategy going in.

Well Chavez made him fight at long range for most the fight because he was too hot to handle inside its only when Chavez tired he stepped inside with him.
If Mayweather, stays "in the pocket" Mosley is just gonna clinch him and rough him up. When you really think about it, Floyd's options in this fight are limited. He can't trade with Shane, he cant clinch with Shane, even setting up counters is dangerous for him since Shane is a much harder puncher and just as fast.
I disagree. Floyd has more options than Mosley. If Floyd decides to go in the pocket then that would surely take away Mosley's wide punches that he has to load up on and be more of an advantage for Floyd's accurate inside punches. Mosley can clinch and try to rough up Floyd but that's not going to work. Floyd is patient and won't lose his cool. He will adust and when Mosley goes to clinch he will get hit. Setting up counters would not be dangerous because Floyd is a counterpuncher. Mosley is use to being the aggressor and Floyd is use to countering so that's nothing new there. Floyd can box or go in the pocket. All Mosley can do is try to set up that right with a weak jab. This will be an easy fight for Floyd. It looks hard on paper but Floyd is a better overall boxer. Mosley will get frustrated in this fight.

yes yes YES....floyd is one of the best inside fighters out here and Shane CANNOT fight on the inside. Winky bulldogged shane around on the inside all nite. If shane cannot lick the air and find his range with those 4-5 jabs he has trouble setting up power shots if his opponent is not right n front of him. This would be a very very smart move for floyd imo.
Shane's inside game isn't that good, but it isn't non existent either. IMO Shane is gonna try to take it there anyway and rough up Floyd on the inside (pushing him back, holding and hitting).
If Shane is able to push back, hold and explode with combinations Floyd will be in a ton of trouble, especially late. Mayweather needs to use his legs to box from the outside and counter punch. If he wants to win.

No that's a bad idea...u don't want to take any body shots from shane imo
actually, mosley has a great left hook to the body
that is true....but De La Hoya tried that... then again mosley's left hook is different from de la hoya.... soo
hmmm
No. He needs to stick and move, but do so with more than 1 shot at a time. In close Shane got a wicked right cross he couldn't dodge so easily. Shane's not known for body punching, but surely he'll be doing it in this fight. Floyd don't need to try staying in the pocket for this one.

I agree with this, and Floyd should clinch if the fight gets too close, Shane throws sick combinations and he would land if Floyd stays close, that works more for guys who are sluggish.
If he needs to, then he will.
idk coz, for some reason i just think he can frustrate mosley more by staying in the pocket like that.. coz floyd is harder to hit in the pocket.. hes standing right in front of you yet he blocks and dodges every punch
i feel like he can avoid more punishment that way and be able to punish mosley better :boxing:
