Apparently you don't know that Ali himself said that he was inpired to talk trash from watching a bad guy wrestler Gorgeous George.
I do know that. To clarify, what I meant was even when Ali was mouthing off he believed the shit he was saying. He knew what he was doing getting a rise out outta people, but he didn't make shit up to do it. He went far out of his way to state his beliefs in outrageous fashion, but they truly were his beliefs. I don't think Floyd truly believes half the shit he says.
his numbers are progressively declining, people aren't falling for the trash talk now. I've never bought a mayweather ppv glad i was hammered for the marquez fight cuz that shit was a stinker.
The Mayweather-Marquez PPV did really good numbers.
I was kind of surprised that it broke a million. That's more than Mayweather-Hatton did in the states.
No. Ali didn't deliberately try to be hated. He just did his thing and that's the response he got for it. His smack talk was 100% real. Floyd is just doing what he gotta do to keep his name hot. I wouldn't say he's biting off Ali, though obviously people will compare the 2.

Based on his big mouth, Is he trying to be Ali? Trash talking his opponents, claiming to be the greatest etc......
I think every fighter tries to be somewhat like ali, and thats a good thing. But you have to have humor/humility to be that over the top, and people have to like you. People don't like floyd, except here.
Well hes the biggest draw in the sport.:boxing:

He sort of did, he was being a salesman/character basically, playing the heel. He was influenced by the wrestler Gorgeous George and George gave him advice on how his trash talk would get the people coming to the arena.
Ali could be very mean-spirited but he was also very playful and clever. I think Mayweather tries to emulate him in a way, but I never can accept that it is all an act. He wouldn't and couldn't do it so continually if that wasn't who he is.
Ali was more courageous as a fighter, going after the toughest heavyweights of his era and doing what he could do to ensure these fights happened. Whereas PBF throws up roadblocks to fighting strong opponents, like demanding ridiculous and unnecessary testing. Demands that are not his to make from the beginning.
But look at Ali now. His fluent bragging mouth has turned into a muffled mumble. He proud athleticism transformed to a trembling shuffle. I believe in all that metaphysical thing and see a connection. The one who exalts himself will be humbled.
PBF should open up his eyes because it is only a short time before his arrogant hide is knocked off his perch.
Based on his big mouth, Is he trying to be Ali? Trash talking his opponents, claiming to be the greatest etc......That's the idea but the problem is he doesn't have the intelligence and the charisma of an ALI.
Ali said he was the greatest before he did shit in boxing. Nothing wrong with trash talk.
I see you quick to respond this thread..
Good luck with your nuthugging! haha!

But he doesn't take the risks Ali/Cassius Clay took. He's a pale imitation. Nothing more.
I think he wants to think he is the greatest like Ali! And he is an enormous talent and great work ethic like Ali. However, he doesn't create the excitement like Ali and doesn't fight the best out there like Ali did.
Based on his big mouth, Is he trying to be Ali? Trash talking his opponents, claiming to be the greatest etc......
Yes he's trying to be like Ali, but Laila Ali though.
hes not liked now and i dont think he'll ever be. ali truly had the gift of gab. he was a loudmouth, but he was clever, witty and sharp. floyd isnt any of the latter. he cant pull off the tongue-in-cheek insults either becuz his personality is so bratty and abrasive.
100% agree. Ali said things that were insulting, yet clever and witty. When Floyd talks trash, it's just, well, stupid. It lacks any substance or flare, he's basically saying things for shock value. He says things so preposterous, and unbelievable, you have no choice but to laugh AT him, not with him.
Based on his big mouth, Is he trying to be Ali? Trash talking his opponents, claiming to be the greatest etc......
by mouth...YES
Ali fought elite fighters..
Mayweather ducked elite fighters..
