I really think that Clottey's cover and counter style will bother Pac alot more than folks think.
Baring and injury, I feel Clottey has a good chance to win this fight.
Am I alone in this thinking?

On A Side Note: Just let me know if I'm the only one pulling for Clottey. Don't bring that Floyd/Pac fan war in here please.
clottey is the pesty fight who troubles everybody he fights and makes them look less than super---this is why i don't see pac dominating him, and could possible see clottey pulling the upset maybe---pac is just too damn explosive but clottey's defense is tight, and he just makes everybody look bad----he is a rugged fighter---he made cotto and margarito look like shit---i see manny upping his game though---but if anybody can pull an upset over a fighter, it's joshua, please believe it---this could very well happen---if he ups his activity and not just block punches on the rope like he seems to love to do----he will frustrate manny a lot----a hell of a lot---manny is not a great boxer, he has an amazing offensive arsenal, but you have to be a mayweather type of fighter to handle a fighter like clottey with ease----i see manny beating this kid, but in no way will he manhandle clottey at all----and manny will suffer some in the fight---and he can very well lose it----
You know, I was going to bring this up at one point, but i hate the "fan war" as it is, so I didn't want to add fuel to the fire.
But....
Some of the cats that are not giving Clottey a shot, or calling the fight a Joke.
Are the same folks that picked Clottey over Cotto, and had nothing but good things to say about Clottey in the Margo fight. Now he is trash though. i don't get it.
When, and IF Clottey wins this fight, watch how heavy his nuts get......:nonono:
I really didn't want to bring it up either, but it's obvious who is doing it.LOL
The thing that I find interesting is the amount of people who try to change boxing history, twist facts, or discredit fighters just to fit an agenda. Real boxing fans don't do that, and even though I have small biased towards certain fighters....I try to be objective and look at things from different perspectives.
Clottey has to let his hands go. Clottey is a real big dude and has very good hand speed and underated power. Clottey needs to bully Pacquiao and not remain stationary. If he shows movement and works the body on the inside, he should keep Pac at a distance in the center of the ring. Around the ropes, he needs to push Pac into them and apply heavy pressure and keep Pac from spinning off of them. If Clottey is defensive minded the entire fight, Pac will hit him like he is a punching bag and even though he may not get dropped, he will lose on points big time.
I think clottey can win this fight....I have it like 60-40 in favor of Pac because of Pac's movement and Clottey's extremely defensive nature.
If he does not suffer a freak injury, I see him doing this all night. Not like Pac, or Margo, or Paul Williams or anything, but i see him have a steady pace.
im with you i think clottey has a real shot at pulling off the upset im so tired of people on this site not giving him his respect and acting like he is on the level of an alfonso gomez or ben tackie.
I hear that.
I’m expecting a gutsy performance by Clottey but I just don’t think he will maintain his work rate to pull it off. That is going to be the difference in Pac, I see his punch output increasing in the championship rounds while Joshua does what he always does in taking rounds off.
So let me get this right.
I'm the only one on NSB that thinks Clottey can beat Pac?
I think he could and has a good chance but I got Pac winning. It has more to do with me being a fan supporting a favorite fighter if anything. For example, I feel Donaire would beat Darchinyan in a rematch, but I would never bet against vic and will ride with him to the end because he is another favorite fighter of mine.
If I was neutral....I would pick Clottey though
Honestly it's Floyd fan boys that say this. They will try anything to discredit this fight. I just don't get it. I could care less about Floyd as a fighter, so I don't even talk or really bring him up when I'm in boxing discussions.
These guys dislike Pac's success with such a passion, that it's always on their minds. If you don't like someone as a fighter, why bring them up or even worry about what's going on in their career?

That is what baffles me. People are really just passing this fight off like Clottey has no shot what-so-ever. I disagree. I happen to think Clottey will win this fight.
Like you said, he has the tools.

Pacquiao wins this fight. how many of u wud actually bet money on clottey?
exactly...
Did you just answer you own question in the same post????...........Ok.....
I would.
I don't gamble though.
I just put up E-Money (that is all in on Mosley to beat Floyd).
I mean, we've seen the offensive work put in by Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito take Clottey off his game enough that he dropped decisions to those men. While you can't take anything away from Joshua's ability and world class skill, Pacquiao is the favorite because even if in close fights, or while having a solid showing, Clottey has been plain beat before.
The real question is whether Clottey will be able to box well enough to excersie his perceived size advantage. If anything, I think he'll drop the first few rounds to the sharp, quick Pacquaio and if he's faced with an uphill battle in terms of scorecards, things could become tough for him going into the later rounds.
I expect Manny to beat Clottey, but it wouldn't be the BIGGEST upset ever if he beat the smaller guy; just one of the larger recent upsets.
Like I said in a previous thread, those fights are exceptions. Why? Do to his injuries in those fights. Plus folks make it seem like he just stopped trowing against Margo. For like three rounds yes, but he was still countering very well, it just wasn't enough.
The knee injurie he suffered against Cotto saved him. He could not catch Cotto when Cotto sarted moving. After he got slammed, that was a completely different fight.
If Clottey can stay healthy in this fight, I see him winning it all day!!!!
Also this fight is important for various reasons. First, I truly believe that Arum wants to get pac a belt at 154. Most 154lbs rehydrate up to 165-170 just like Clottey will when pac faces him. Also Clottey has the tools to give any 154lb problems, so if Pac looks really good, I see them going for a belt against a top guy at 154.
Second, while its obvious that pac has improved against defensive mind boxers with right hands (as seen by him beating marquez in second fight), Roach may still want to see how he does against a top tier guy that fits that criteria. Clottey has two of the best tools you need to have against a southpaw (Right hand and left hook) so as a fan of Pac this is a fight Im excited to see.

I think this will in the early rounds, but in the later rounds he wont keep it up and pac will take the fight
I think both will do alot of exchanging of clean shots when Clottey opens up but I also think Pac firepower and quickness will overwhelm Clottey later in the fight. If anyone gets hurt, it'll be Pacquiao IMO. But overall, Pac by UD. Clottey would be alot better if he had a good trainer.
