I'm on my way over to Wembley at 4pm for this one, got my tickets all ready, i am looking forward to this, should be a great nights boxing. If you don't have tickets, it is live on Sky Sports 1 tonight.
Here are some of the fights:
Nathan Cleverley vs Antonio Brancalion
Kevin Mitchell vs Ignacios Mendoza
James DeGale vs Matthew Barr
Derek Chisora vs Carl Baker
Frankie Gavin vs Peter McDonagh
Cheers Sam, just got home. Was a great night, Mitchell was superb, Gavin - unimpressive, the Walsh brothers were crazy. But for me, the star of the show, as always was a perfect performance from Cleverley, kid id special, he can't hit too hard but everything else is spot on.
One to watch out for - George Michael Carmen, only 18, mede his debut tonight, he will be BIG!!!
Mitchell is really fantastic. I may be hyping him up a bit, but I think he will end up more successful than Amir Khan when all is said and done. He doesn't have great handspeed, but he has almost everything else. A great chin, knockout power, stamina, decent movement, a good defence, durability, and most importantly, a boxing brain to go with all of his attributes. He has looked really classy since coming back from injury, which has made the change in his style all the more impressive. That's another thing I like about him. If he is trying to box smart in a fight and it doesn't work out for one reason or another, he can always revert back to a brawler for the duration or a certain period. He has two distinct styles that can be called upon or combined to great effect.
Between his last two fights he has took his time, boxed, and looked great. Plus he is only 25. So whether he wins his next fight or loses, he can always improve and come back stronger. But I believe he can give any lightweight a hard fight, and will ko Katsidis if they meet in the summer.
It's very exciting to see a boxer who I thought would max out at domestic/european level have so much extra potential. Good luck.
Did you see the fight after Cleverly with the Walsh brother, was a ****ing insane tearup, Walsh got knocked down in first and won by KO in 3rd, both were taking the piss out of each other. Vinnie Mitchell got KO'd like Castillo aswell was a shock :O, shame those two fights were not filmed were the best of the night. Im not to sure about Carmen, needs to sit more on his punches but can't argue much with a debut :D
