I just read that some people will actually be ordering the "Articles of Confederation."
Do you realize how many people wanted this fight for years and they never made an effort to make it happen? I sure remember craving this fight....years ago.
Did you guys not realize how fast this fight was made recently? Look at the circumstances. Both at the end of their careers and money hungry. No other safe fights worth anything.
The interviews I have been watching reek of bullshit, my god...complete bullshit. Hopkins's promoting lines and act suck. Jones just got KTFO in 1 round, but some how Hopkins wants to prove hes the betterman by fighting Jones on PPV? The post fight interview in Philly disgusted me, I knew Hopkins-Jones was going to go on. They are purely trying to milk a fan base they ripped off for so long.
Well its your money guys im just saying...
I agree and it kinda puts dawson in a weird situation. He could fight Johnson again and if he wins he can finally become Ring Champion of LH but who wants to see that fight again?
So, I think we all better hope that Tavoris Cloud beats Johnson. If he does, and does so convincingly, I would reckon Cloud would become #2 and if that were to happen, I would imagine Cloud would be much more attractive to Dawson.
Yeah.
There is no way in hell Chad is fighting Johnson again. Hell, I think even Dawson started getting bored in the second Johnson fight.
if that danny green KO never happened people were saying jones was going to beat hopkins and there was a lot of interest in this fight.
I'm just saying, don't be shocked if it turns out to a be a pretty entertaining fight.
I actually agree with you. That Danny Green fight screwed everything up. But the TS is also right. Both Jones and Hopkins robbed the fans of this fight a long time ago.
I didn't realize Hopkins dropped to #3. I got no problem with Dawson being #1 but I'm not so sure about Johnson being ahead of Hopkins based on a win against Yusaf Mack...
i think people are getting wise to the fact that hopkins won't be fighting a top 10 lt HW anytime soon
its funny how bhop and nazim have to talk up rjj to make this fight seem competitive. atleast let rjj win like 3 fights in a row first, then make this fight.
I didn't realize Hopkins dropped to #3. I got no problem with Dawson being #1 but I'm not so sure about Johnson being ahead of Hopkins based on a win against Yusaf Mack...
I agree. Its a bit ridiculous that Glen is up that high IMO.

I've mad a few threads ripping the fight and the character of both fighters. Trust me when I say this....the fans of both fighters are loyal and it doesn't matter, they will purchase the fight. To me, it's fights like these that hold the sport back from creating a new fan base. Ah well, don't let it get to you. They will do their 200,000 buys and then that will be the end of it.
Hopkins vs Winky sold about 350K. Jones vs a guy no one has ever heard of in their lives drew over 200K a little over a year ago. This fight will sell well.
alright, you're entitled to your opinion. I'll bump this thread after a very competitive fight occurs. :boxing:
I agree with you there. This fight will be competitve and have it's moments. I don't doubt that at all. It's just a shame that it has to happen at this point in their careers. Jones will come out looking better than he really is and will continue to fight until he gets knocked out again.

I don't care if it is competitive, I don't even care if Roy wins, it changes nothing IMO.
Here you have a top, top guy like Bernard Hopkins who is still right at the top of his game and at the top of the sport charging people $50 to watch a guy who can't go a round with Danny Green. Those are the facts, and IMO they do not paint a very pretty picture for our sport.
But he isn't. He's ranked #3, chad dawson is #1, glen johnson #2.
Fuk his age? lol history will show 45 is old. True for hopkins too man, he's old.
Number 3.
Or you can say he's rematching teh guy that beat him all those years ago and it's a grudge match between two legends who are both past their best years but can still put up good entertaining fights for their fans.
Difference of perspective.
My mistake. Still, the numbers may be different but the implications are the same.
I'd be fine with the fight if Bernard wasn't considered a top-ranked LHW and even a top-rated p4p fighter. If he wasn't a top 5 LHW or in the top 10 p4p I'd be fine with the fight. THe fact is, he's not.
He should not be fighting Roy Jones at this point. It is not good for the sport. End of.
Hopkins should be ashamed for even picking on Jones. Hes no better then Calzaghe in that regard.
Well, in Hopkins defense he has taken on some challenges in his old age including, Tarver, Calzaghe, and Pavlik. So it's not like he's been going after easy fights. I'll give him a pass at 45 for taking this fight even though it's a horrible match-up. Other than Calzaghe, Jones has wisely avoided live competition since the third Tarver fight. But it backfired on him against Green. That was inevitable for a fighter who is way past it tries to get by on set ups.
Agreed. Not so worried about the health of the sport though - more worried about the health of Jones.
I agree. I don't understand Jones hanging around the sport like this unless he really needs money.
He is supposed to be the #1 LHW in the world. Fuk his age, who cares? He is ranked at one and instead of fighting a legit contender he is fighting a guy who is totally past it, got KTFO in round 1 against a journeyman in his last fight and doesn't have a relevant win at LHW in over 5 years. What's worse is people have to pay $50 to watch it.
I think Chad Dawson is considered number 1 and certainly would by people who truly follow the sport. But I don't disagree with you on how bad this fight is. Especially after Jones dismal showing against Green. The fight shouldn't happen and Jones should have never fought Green to be honest unless he really needed the money.
Agreed. As bad as I think this fight. I have seen far worse in my years of wathing boxing. This doesn't hurt the sport in any way. Certianly no more than the upcoming Ortiz-Liddell or the late career Tim Shamrock fights did to the UFC.
Agreed. Not so worried about the health of the sport though - more worried about the health of Jones.
