An honest question for Floyd fans!!

Mayweather loses to a prime Forrest/ Winky and beats Cotto.

That question at this point would be impossible to answer. Winky and Vernon were in there prime and very tough. Those guys were muh bigger than Floyd. Winky went on to fight Hopkins at 170. Vernon was fighting at 160 against Mora. Both those guys are naturally 30-40 lbs heavier than Floyd. Both would have been great fights. Floyd would make cotto look like a club fighter though.

A typical Floyd stan response is a could woulda shoulda that they fully believe in just as Floyd does. Zero proof required just like the steroid allegations. If they were in control of the court systems, we'd all be fuked. He doesn't need to fight any top guy because he could do this or that. Oh really? That's really good to know. LET'S SEE IT! On the subject, Floyd sparks Cotto, 140-147 any day of the weak. He doesn't have to footwork necessary to compete. I think Forrest had the tools to beat Floyd, namely power since he's much bigger. Winky-Floyd wouldn't be as competitive as Forrest-Mayweather. Winky doesn't use his power well, and he hides behind that guard. For some reason I can't shake the feeling that he fought smaller than his actual size. It'll be a case of Floyd darting in and out on him. I'd like to explain all of these in more detail, but I gotta dart off to class in 10 minutes.

The thing with Floyd is that he is the G.O.A.T. He can not be beat, he is the perfect fighter, he has no flaws, he is unbeatable... He can go up to HW right now and outbox the shit out of David Tua. Chris Byrd outboxed and you know damn well Floyd is the better boxer... Tua has problems with boxers how is he going to deal with Floyd... Hell Tua can beat Wlad Klitschko... Ross Purity beat him so of course Floyd can... We just have to realize that Floyd can not beat beat... he can never be beat. He just on a whole other level... he damn near beat 50cent for crying out loud... The man is amazing...

Not a Floyd fan, but I think the reason they rank him higher is they feel his skill set far exceeds his accomplishments as a WW.

Kind of a dumb thread.....for starters Floyd started his career much smaller than Forrest and Winky and neither of those guys were at WW when Floyd moved up. In fact I dont think Winky ever was......second of all when FLoyd wanted to fight Cotto, Cottos team wasnt ready for the fight. Floyd is supposed to be on a higher level than most of the top WW because he has proven himself being one of the top fighters in the sport, most of his body of work was at lower weight classes, but when he has fought at WW and even Jr Middle he has done so VERY EFFECTIVELY. I def agree that he could have and should have fought better guys at WW(hopefully he is starting to) but only a biased idiot would say he doesnt belong there. My question is, what has Floyd done that makes you think he DOESNT belong there? He talked too much for you and now you dont like him? I know Floyd's body of work below 140 was amazing,but that doesn't have anything to do with 147,true story!!It is not a fact that Floyd is better than any career welterweight,he hasn't fought,true story!!

Cotto YES. 140lbs 147lbs pre-Margarito post-Margarito. It doesn't matter. Cotto does not bring nor has he ever brought anything to the table to bother Floyd. It would be a clear 118-110 117-111 type win for Floyd. Vernon Forrest at welterweight WOULD have been a challenge for Floyd but it's a fight that never would have happened. Vernon was never a name... not even a somewhat recognizable name. No one but die hards knew who he was. Forrest's jab and range would have troubled Floyd, but I still give him the edge particularly late as his Forrests wrestling tactis would not work well with a vastly superior inside fighter like Floyd. Floyd would win a close tough decision, but I wouldn't have been shocked if he lost this one. Winky Wright is an ugly fight that again would have been challenging for Floyd. Winky does not use his power and size well, so I don't think Floyd would have had as much to fear as he would against a Forrest. I like Floyd in this fight as well, even at 154lbs in an absolute STINK fest. This is a fight I'm glad never came off. Vernon Forrest more so than any other welterweight had the biggest chance of beating Floyd. I don't see any other welterweight or any fight PERIOD in boxing below 147lbs that has a chance of beating Floyd outside of a lucky punch -- Pacquiao included. I really respect this reply,but I don't agree with it at all!!Winky didn't punch with Power,neither does Floyd,but Winky always used his size & strength advantages when he had them,he overpowered Mosley,he made Tito look weak & he even bullied Taylor to the ropes many times in their fight!!As far as wrestling tactics,that where a bigger man ties the shorter man up so he can't fight inside!!Forrest keeps little Floyd at the end of his jab all night!!Cotto was the best welterweight when he beat Mosley,Cotto was also at his best coming forward & being the aggressor,he'd be in his mode against Floyd because he'd be pressuring,not being driven back!!Cotto's body attack with him being the aggressor,has a very good chance of breaking Floyd down!!

Well my dude,I believe Shane is gonna beat Floyd!!I believe he is gonna use his strength,I believe he's gonna come in there throwing short crisp punches!!I see him pushing Floyd back to the ropes & working his body & shoulders with hooks!!I see Floyd getting very uncomfortable & staying that way!!Mosley also has the stamina to fight at a very intense level,so I believe Floyd isn't gonna be able to slow down the pace like he likes to!!I believe Shane is hungrier & it's gonna show up on fight night!!This is a very good matchup stylistically for both!!Floyd has the boxing skills,that hasn't been beaten,while Mosley has the strength,power,size & stamina to finally beat Floyd!!Ohh,I almost forgot to mention Brother Naazim,silly me!!

The conclusion that Mosley has trouble with pure boxers doesn't have anything to do with Mayweather, I"m not trying to say Mayweather is a better all around boxer then guys like Forrest and Wright are(although he'd beat Cotto any day of the week). The fact is that Mayweather has outboxed every opponent he's ever faced so he should be able to outbox Shane. AT the same time i think Mayweather is a very different kind of boxer then the guys that have outboxed Mosley and i don't know if this is a good thing for PBF or not.
