Why is Floyd's chin so underrated?

Because he barely ever gets hit and when he does get hit, he's usually riding with or seeing the punch coming. If he had Margarito's chin, we wouldn't know because he doesn't get hit nearly as much or as hard.

The Zab Judah knockdown was more so his feet getting caught up after the punch while he was returning from potshotting. Technically that's a slip up, but at the same time there was contact before he touched down so you can call it a knockdown. However there aren't too many fighters with speed like Zab's so you won't see that often. He's arguably faster than Pac...for the first 4 or 5 rounds hahaha However, Mayweather was not wobbled or hurt by that punch at all. It actually shows how strong his chin is. Just imagine what would happen is Judah landed that punch on Amir "Gone in 60 seconds" Khan.

He took a HUGE shot from Oscar in the 12th round. He didnt even feel it. He has one of the best chins in boxing. 3:08 I still don't understand why some people think that was a boring fight. I thought it was one of Floyd's more enjoyable fights.

I would naturally assume that a fighter with 40 professional fights and against some of the best in the world who hasn't been knocked out or seriously hurt has a good chin. Or the worlds best defence? Which he has.... Mayweather has shown a good chin in the past, but we've never seen him take a BIG shot from a huge hitter because he never has to...

i actually thnk its overrated......then again,floyd is overall overrated.... So why are the MAJORITY of your posts talking about an overrated fighter? And hy do you want Manny to fight him?

I wouldn't say that his chin is underrated but I'd say that Floyd's defense is so incredible it's hard to get a punch in. If you watch the last 10 seconds of the last round in his fight with Oscar, he gets hit flush with two punches and gets rocked for a millisecond. It's just so fast and then clinches onto Oscar immediately. Keep in mind though, that both Floyd and Oscar were just swinging away at the end.

It's not underrated. It's more of a question mark. Floyd took a few shots from Oscar, but nothing incredibly heavy. His chin is a mystery at WW since he's yet to get bombed by a nasty power punch.

We can't properly rate Floyd's chin because he doesn't take flush shots very often. It's an almost irrelevant conversation with Floyd. Personally I feel Floyd has never had to face that much punishment, especially from guys with strength at welterweight, and if Mosley and Pacquiao were able to land consistently Floyd would face a good possibility of getting KOed. Nothing easy about it at all though.

From time to time I read posts that say that Floyd will get sparked and KO'd etc. We have seen Floyd for more than a decade and he has only been really hurt once and has never tasted the canvas. So where do people get this nonsense from? People act like he doesn't fight toe to toe but forget that late in fights he fights in the pocket. He can take a good shot, look at the 8th round against Corrales, look at that big left by Zab, he took left hooks from Oscar. So enlighten me, where is the evidence that Floyd can really get iced easily? Cause his chin has never been tested. Well actually he was knocked down against Judah. That right there says enough. Pacquiao Cotto Margarito Shane hell even Clottey all hit much harder than Judah

because him gameplan relies on not getting hit but i agree,he has shown a good chin when needed,only time i have seen him wobbled was when he fought chop chop,and that was a flush shot from a strong puncher
