I think Lara can give Sergio a run for his money. This dude is the real deal,I've been watching some of his fights, and he has the talent and skill to dominate at 154.Lara's Only 26 years old(He's made a fan out of me)
If you don't know he is watch this
Did Erislandy Lara Beat Up Ricky Hatton In Sparring?
Thanks for the info. Looks like I asked just in time!
It's a tricky thing, bringing up a guy like Rigo in the pro game. On the one hand, he's far too experienced and far too good to be fed easy opposition. On the other hand, the game is different, so you want to make sure he catches on. It would be a crime to let his talent go to waste.
I agree, letting talent like his go to waste would be an insane mistake. At least he is not fighting guys with records like 2-20-4 or something. I can't wait to see him in his first title fight.
rofl....did soembody just say lara has better reflexes than martinez??...martinez is alike a ****ing cat...martinez would toy with him, right now....too much foot speed.....
lara looks solid but he aint really dazzling and his offense is not versatile enough, thats why when his opponents decide theyre going the distance, lara cant get them out of there....
lol I had to look back for that comment! :lol1:
I agree with much of what you've written. There's a lot of wishful thinking going on here, in my opinion. Lara just looks like a good prospect...someone to keep an eye on, especially if you're of Cuban descent. But the guy only has nine pro fights with five knockouts. I don't place too much stock on knockout ratio, but Erislandy is being fed a lot of weak boxers early in his career. It's not tough to look good against these guys. If he was tearing through them I might be more impressed. Even then, to dream of matching Lara up with Sergio Martinez, this early in his pro career, is just unthinkable.

I think he is fighting a guy named Adolpho Landeros on February 5th. Next weeks FNF on the undercard. I hope they move him along as well, he is too mature to be coddled he can easily take a step up. The guy he is facing has a record of 20-12 which could be worse but could be better.

Fowler,
IDK man. He is talented no doubt. BUT, I need to see him in with B level fighters 1st. I would be lying if I told you I wouldnt be watching his career closely. But not yet Fowler, IMO.
Mathed, do we know when and where Rigo's next fight is? I hope they bring him up quickly, as promised. These little fights against unknowns are just tantalizing. These poor opponents are like sheep being led to the slaughter. I want to see what Guillermo's true professional potential might be.

I think it would be a good fight but I have to say Martinez toys with him a bit at this juncture. Maybe in a few years after some more pro experience he takes it but not right now. I personally think Rigondeaux is far more mature than Lara (he is older I know) and is the best Cuban fighting right now. His reflexes and accuracy are superb and his quickness is amazing. The Cubans: Rigs, Gamboa, and Lara are all extemely good but I have to say that Rigs has, by far, the most potential out of all.

Laras no joke. Id favor him over Martinez.
yep yep reflexes. Also Martinez has one of the worst enemy's on his side and thats his age
sooner or later he will break down physically
hes not ready yet.....
Lara is nowhere near ready. I've seen three or four of his fights. The kid looks promising, but I have to say that I'm not as excited about him as I'd like to be. Erislandy fights in a very solid, fundamental style. I think that's good for his continued development as a pro, but it doesn't make for the most entertaining viewing. In any event, Sergio Martinez is a top man in the division; Lara is just getting his career on track.

Thank you my dude
No problem. :fing02:
Lara's my favorite of the new Cubans. He'll be the real deal.
Same here. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night.
