just watched the fight again and to anyone whos not retarded whitaker won, theres no two ways about it. After the fight whoever was commentating said "Pernell Whitaker, exhausted, emotionally and physically " the other guy goes "i think u just witnessed the best fight of his life bar none." Pernell fought his heart out that night. Fought a hostile crowd who were all said to be "in disbelief" at what he was doing to the man everyone thought was invincible. when the draw was announced see the look on his face hes absolutely gutted. Chavez must have thought it was cinco de mayo.sweet pea didnt deserve that, Those judges can go **** themselves.
Yeah. The thing about this fight was how clear it is to score. There is just no way in hell you can reasonably give JCC more than 4 rounds. Just no way. So yeah, that and the significance of the fight make it one of the worst decisions in history.
i remember my brother in law ordering this fight and hin rooting hard for jc chavez at the time and even though i liked chavezs style i was went aginst the grain and stuck to my guns and went with the defensive wizard pernell whitaker and i was shocked at how sweet pea out boxed jc chavez and he made chavez look off his game big time and the decision was the most awful thing to happen ever and yes its a thousand times worser than the lewis-holyfield 1 fight i mean pernell whitaker won that fight hands down it wasnt even close
I will still argue with anyone that Pernell Lost that fight be 1 round. Whitaker would run around the ring Jabing the whole round, then get caught flush with a huge bomb, losing him the round.
u serious????
I think I gave Chavez like 2 rounds, there was maybe one other round I would consider giving him. Whitaker destroyed Chavez, absolutely no excuse for that draw.

doesnt change the fact that he outclassed chavez for 12 rounds though:boxing:
haha
It takes the cake in that this was a huge fight, but Pernell's robbery against JLR was much worse in that JLR didn't even win a round IMO.

I feel so bad for sweet pea.. even though we as boxing fans know he really won that fight... record books will always show it as a draw....
SWEET PEA IS THE MOW FOCKINGGG MAN!
one of those things that makes you sick to your stomach about boxing. If there was not a revolution about the selection of judges and the proper format of scoring fights after that travesty, there never will be.
exactly. even chavez was surprised to get the draw u can see in his eyes. its not his fault everyone used to bum him tho so no disrespect to him
Yeah, it's not his fault. I used to hate him after that fight though. Now I have a lot of respect for him.

I agree. The difference was only the fact that the JCC fight was so much more high profile.
Ohhhh man why you have to remind me this? That decision was a disgrace, it makes me sick. Not just the stupid irrational judges cards, I'm talking about that Pernell should've been recognized as the man to dethroned Chavez, he should've took his "0" that night and those stupids morons judges deprived him of that credit.

You guys think that was a black eye, check out some of delajoya's "wins"
None of those come close to the travesty that was Chavez-Whitaker when the cards were read.
It was that sickening.
The worst decision I've ever seen.
I'm glad that most people rightfully regard it as a legit win for Whitaker. The fans have overruled the judges in this case.
yea that is some consolation i suppose . i was half expectin jcc fans to dispute it lol
