This prob been said before but I missed it, to fight clottey IMEDIATELY after at 147 when he made cotto fight at 145 is like spitting in his face ain't it?
Was it that PAC camp were unsure about PAC against a full welter, or were they just bein DIVA muverfukas n subjecting cotto to unfair terms?
Either way to fight clottey now at full welterweight is like spitting in cottos face, who I think is one of the few great n honest fighters...
What u lot think?
so you want pac to keep fighting at a catchweight?
wtf?
cotto was pac's 1st real test at 147. of course they'd want to try to even the odds a little.
he's a blown up featherweight. they wanted to see if he can handle it first.
yeah he fought oscar at 147 but remember oscar was already going down in weight.
now that they saw he can be effective at 147 and he's now a champ at 147 , he should fight at 147.
it's not like 2 lbs. made a difference.
pacquiao is an all time great. cotto is good.
that's a big difference that even 2 lbs. wouldn't overcome.
cotto could have come in at 154 and he would still have gotten fucked up. he just ain't on pac's level.
You hit it!They test his ability at WW.i think pac is now comfortable at WW.
cotto wouldnt feel any negative thoughts. his fight was at a catchweight. but he was offered 6M guaranteed purse. and the final amount was way above that (12M) in contrast, clottey is only being guaranteed 1M. and i doubt it if his ppv share is anything near that of cotto's. clottey will be lucky to earn 3-5M in total. So as far as Cotto is concerned, who gives a sh!t if his fight was at a 145 catchweight and clottey's is at the full 147?
He's already hinted of somewhat regretting getting greedy and acceding to the demands of Team Pac. He's a proud guy though, you won't find him saying he messed up outright though.
if pacquiao is a natural junior welterweight then cotto must be a natural super middleweight , you dumb fuck.
cotto was cutting as much pounds fighting at 140 than pacquiao was at 122.
I don't get into arguments with children.
Grow up.

In 2004 in the same night
Manny Pacquio was 125 at the scales againts Juan Manuel Marquez
Miguel Cotto was 140 againts Lovemore Ndou
Difference : 3 Division, 15 lbs
Just over a year ago. In championship bouts
on March 2008 Pacquiao was 129 againts Juan Manuel Marquez
and on April 2008 Miguel Cotto was 146.5 againts Gomez
Difference : 3 Division, 17.5 lbs
:D
I'm sure he's gained all that muscle mass and new power eating balut. He's such a humble, hardworking guy this Pacquiao. I used to follow this guy, but something doesn't seem right about him. No one can blame boxing enthusiasts for being suspicious of him and frowning upon the way he gained that "seventh" divisional belt.
If anything i'd say it was a spit in Clottey's face, it's as if Manny is saying ''i am good enough to beat YOU at YOUR weight, but Cotto, i need to drain him''.
it was Pacquiao's first venture against a REAL welterweight.. so no, not really.
Cotto is a small welterweight as well and had no problem making the weight.
Clottey is a big welterweight and Pacquiao has established himself in the division now so fighting at a catchweight would be idiotic.
You know what's bullcrap?
Rationalizing that Pac is a blown up anything. He's a natural JWW, period. So many people make unbelievable concessions for this guy, constantly babying and coddling the dude like he's some child. It's disgusting.
The guy drained himself to make lesser weights and now drained a bigger fighter to his advantage. End of story. Good on him to have put the beatdown on Cotto and played the cards in his favor, but anyone with half a brain will realize the fact the playing field wasn't exactly level and he didn't fight the best, current version of Cotto. The best Cotto would have come in at 146.xx and been somewhat stronger. He probably would have lost a UD anyways, but that's not the point. They made it easy for Pac to get that belt and that's where I draw the line.
Pac didn't know how he would fare against a legit welter at 147, so he tried it out at 145. Now he knows it's no problem, and he will fight Clottey at 147. Is that really so hard to understand?

no im just saying i dont think its fair all the fuzz that happened cotto was the champ and was forced to move down clottey aint even have a title and yet he gets to come in at the limit. If cotto would have agreed at the beginning ok but he didnt at first he said no 147 or no title then the whole wbo paco varcel started talking and then cotto got thrown with some incensitives so he said ok but at first he wanted it at the limit i think the champ should be able to fight at what hes comfortable with .
This is wat I was thinking, pacs got the power (money) to call the shots, but then again maybe it should be Arum to blame for setting it all up?!
that was the first i'd seen for a title tho.
ROFLMAO. One of the most famous boxer on earth fought in a catchweight bout to win two different weight titles from the WBC at the same time.
Only haters will hate Pacquiao fighting Clottey at 147. I almost denounced the guy when another catchweight bout rumor was floating around. The Cotto bout is the test fight because writers and fans like us were saying that pacquiao is not yet proven as a welterweight at the time. The pac team bought it and the cotto team believed it, so bad luck for the latter.

Actually...Cotto should be flattered.

Cotto came in at
146 vs Quintana
146.5 vs Judah
146.25 vs Mosley
146.50 vs Gomez
146 vs Clottey
Don't let facts get in your way.

The fight with cotto was the first big big test for manny to fight at WW against a legit WW fighter, so the catchweight was sort of inching manny's way up, just to remind you manny was still fighting at featherweight just 3 fights ago. And cotto was 146lbs the fight before so 145lbs ain't that far fetched. Now against clottey who is an even bigger WW than cotto, if manny asked clottey to come in at 145lbs as with cotto, i am definitely sure that you as well as the other haters here will all be against that kind of set-up and crucify manny...
