Very underated fight against a very good opponent. IMO really one of the finest all around performances in his career... he fought with him at close quarters... tired him out in the middle rounds by boxing him and turns the heat up in the final rounds of the bout. May also shows a solid chin in this one.
Chavez would go on after this fight and become a 2 division champion. He also had a very competive fight with Erik Morales but lost a decision. He was also the guy who beat Leavander Johnson (R.I.P.) in his last fight.
The 130lbs version of Floyd was so damn special IMO... He still pretty special, his skills skills are unmatched right now... but, that version was so amazing...
True, it's sad that most ppl only know him from his welter days or as it seems sometimes here on this forum...
130 Mayweather was a beast... he is still very skilled... but of course fights more save... that's why I'm interested in a fight against Pacquiao for example... because even though most think he ain't got the heart no more... I believe if somebody pushes him he will dig deep and try to find the 130 Floyd... I don't know if the NOW Mosley can do it... but Pacquiao comes from the lower weights and is faster with feet and hand then the welterweights... where it is pretty simple for Floyd to make it a easy night...
Even though it ain't looks bright we can still hope that the fight happens... both still seem to be willing to fight each other... at least they say that
Mosley-Mayweather at 135 would have been a fight, I saw Mosley live against some british fighter who was based in america (adrian stone i think) and the way Mosley KO stone scared the shit out of me, the speed, power and intensity was out of this world, I think Mosley would probably a slight favourite for me if Mayweather had moved up from 130 to 135 to fight Mosley.
To be honest i dont really pay much attention to Harold lederman, He sway alot of people with the wrong scorecard alot of times and its funny when people quote his scorecards sometimes like its the gospel.
No, that is a match that I haven't seen (Stone-Mosley)...
At 135 it would have been bad... Mosley at his start at welter was faster... I mean the first DLH fight was awesome... he had a whole different dynamic... nowadays he almost looks sluggish... still has fast hands... but his dynamic looks way more sluggish then he used to
Yea and Casamayor wanted it too, so did Freitas who was also an undefeated title holder along with Floyd and Casamayor at 130...
All 3 were in the same weight-class undefeated, in their prime and champs... Freitas at the time a 100% KO ratio...
The only reason why no fights materialized at the time... was due to Floyd being an HBO fighter while Casa and Freitas were Showtime fighters... Those fights were not big enough to make HBO and Show come together like it did for Lewis-Tyson... That is why we Casa-Freitas but never saw Floyd against either of them... Even though everybody involved was willing to fight...
Yeah, I remember Freitas too... Freitas wasn't bad either... he had some good scraps... Freitas had a funny way of fighting... he was like a samba dancer or something at times *looooooooooooooooooool*
Oh I didn't know that with the tv stations... yeah, I mean HBO could get every fighter but they have really sometimes a bad eye for talent or what they think would interest folks...
Def. would have been fights that would have looked good on his resume

Great post,
I remember the Adrian Stone fight, that KO was scary... Amazing and that was the ww version of Shane... The Lightweight version of Shane was even better...
A fight I wanted to see at the time at 135 was Shane Mosley vs Stevie Johnston... I always hoped they would of fought but it never happened...
Yeah, the Famoso fight is hard to get too... Famoso was also a very solid fighter who was also a champion and who went on to fight Chavez and Morales afterwards... actually he broke both of his hands in this fight and was fighting with it from the 7th round on I believe *looooooooooool*
Yeah, I agree... he found a way to still be successful... I still love to watch him but of course I wouldn't have anything against it if he fights like the 130 version again *looooooooooooooooooool* Sadly as he wanted to fight Mosley at 135... Shane moved up... that would have been one fight... Shane at 135 was also a different fighter... pair that against the 130 Floyd... booooooooooooooooooooooooooooi I tell yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Not sure. Think not but i could be wrong. I think Mayweather career has been underrated and not only the lightweight part of it. Fact is, he's easy to hate and people who don't usually think by themselves and have no initiative (or a woman btw) really go with the hate train.
In a month people will be acting like Mayweather ducked Pacquiao forgetting completely who called the fight off. The same way they almost made that good fight disappear.
Yea Barrera dropped and he was also dropped in a few other fights...
Casamayor was a good fighter... I heard Floyd in interviews many times saying he wanted to fight Casa... but it never materialised... would have been something for the boxing purists

Didn't Barrera put Marquez down?

Ah yes, the fight where Harold Lederman was obviously shit-faced.
Probably the worst scorecard I've ever seen from him. Some how he gave Chavez the first round???

Finally... someone said it... that was basically the only reason I posted it... to expose Lederman *loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool*

I actually found is other fights difficult to fight especially the Carlos Hernandez one were he was officially "Knocked down" by his own hands, I see this fight all the time on Youtube, I like this fight because it was fought at a high pace, Chavez was pushing Mayweather really hard and he never really got any credit for it in the end.
Like you and so many people have said we dont see that Mayweather anymore due to moving up in weight and his hands, He had to fight at a slower pace now and he to be more defensive to prolong is career but i definitely prefer the offensive minded Mayweather because he was a joy to watch.

We can talk boxing but no need for flames and insults. I thought Allucard was making a case for Floyd's power when he quoted me. Yes, Hatton won but be barely got by Collazo and appeared to be out on his feet in the 12th. It was the hardest win of his career against a guy whos considered a gatekeeper @ ww
I would think that even though Collazo is not elite IMO he was still if you look at his skill as a boxer probably one of the best Hatton had fought... I think that played a role as well...
Hatton seemed not as effective at 147 as he was at 140 I'll give you that though... but you still said that it was a good win for May... I think so too...
Well he did KO Hatton when 43 others failed to even get the W against him and he did KD Marquez who only Pacquiao also managed to do, thanks to the bulletproof meth.
I watched the movie yesterday... Pitt is bad a$$ in this one *lol*
I don't understand those fantasy fights either because of the weight like you said. A more realistic fantasy match of Mayweather vs an ATG would be against maybe Roberto Duran @ 135. This is more realistic to talk about given Their styles, weights, and talents.
I was impressed with the Juanma win as well. It was a good finish and name for his resume. However, I'm worried he might be falling in love with his power and forgetting the basics.
Yeah, def. Duran-Mayweather would have been interesting... Duran had pretty good punching power at 135.
Yeah, I can feel you... but I think it was because his last opponent wouldn't have brought the fight to him... so he fought more aggressive because he ain't wanted it to be a 12 round boxing match... I felt in this fight he learned his lesson he was more poise even though he wanted to put him away... I guess the future will tell

but i don't think it had anything to do with weight if anything they say that hatton weighs around 180 when he is not gettin ready for a fight so if anything he should be more comfortable at 147n i also feel like at that point that the ww division was the strongest division in boxing where ricky was fighting at 140 and could have arguablly been 1 of the weakest divisions at that point in time
This fight is also hard to come by... I searched it for years on my download station but only the other Chavez is there that he fought... God Bless the Tube *looooooooooooooooool*
