First viewing with a shitty live stream, late at night, buzzed out of my mind on ice cream and whatever other Red Bullshit, with a buzzed out best mate (tired out of his skull), biased towards Froch going into the fight:
F || 10 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 10 || 116
D || 9 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 9 | 8 | 10 | 9 || 111
Second viewing last week with HD cap, each punch slowed down and analysed, close rounds re-watched, early in the morning, clear head, on my lonesome, no bias for either fighter:
F || 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 || 108
D || 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 10 | 10 || 119
Just goes to show that first viewings really are the worst on which to form an opinion about a controversial fight. That's why I've refrained from joining in with the discussions on who won - I knew I needed to watch it again to get a better idea of what went down, rather than attempt to state anything on the basis of a horrendously pixellated live stream.
Basically, Froch looked like a pile of elephant shit and Dirrell boxed a truly beautiful fight. He didn't run, he boxed. I wish him all the best against the man-beast Abraham (it could be close), and for Kessler to further embarrass Froch. Yes, you people are right - it was one of the worst robberies of '09, if not the worst (Funeka-Guzman still edges it IMO).
And for those who think Froch won even a single round, let alone the fight...

The whole fight was shambolic from start to finish.
I thought Dirrell beat him comfortably by 4 rounds.
Watch Carl Froch's face at the end, his reaction says it all. He looks as though he knew he lost the fight, his facial expression bore the resemblance of a nervous and anxious man. He looked quite scared and resigned to defeat. He even went down on his knees with Dirrell (quite readily too, he capitulated quite easily to that demand IMO) await the verdict.
Then when the card were read out he looked bemused and then it dawned on him that the fight was fixed in his favour (presumably so him and Kessler could meet in the final or have a big fight down the line sometime) and then in the post fight interviews Froch gave the typical He-man arrogant answers that are so typical of him.
The key to the entire scoring of the fight is to watch Froch's fight and reaction immediately after the fight all the way until the announcing of the scores.
He looked nervous, anxious and looked like a man who KNEW he didn't put in good work (I thought he looked like an amateur in there) and RESIGNED to defeat. Then when the scores came in his entire body language changed and he realised the fight was fixed in his favour.
I also thought the way he bad mouthed Dirrell was also very unsporting and lacked total class. He also shows contempt for other fellow Brits like Khan, Calzaghe and some of the Olympic boxers.
It's no wonder he has a small fanbase and none of the UK TV channels want to air his fights Live - the guy is a total pr*ck, totally classless and carries himself with no dignity whatsoever. The moment he loses, he'll be forgotten very quickly.
I hope Dirrell gets a rematch and schools him and puts a final end to Carl Froch and his career.
if froch never landed anything how come dirrell was the one with bloody nose and lips?
He didn't mean literally nothing. Froch landed some of his jabs, which caused the blood, and Froch did get home a power shot or two, only one that was overly effective where he rocked Dirrell (Can't remember the round). Dirrell was using Carls head as a speed bag...
I scored it 115-114 for Froch. It was a very close fight but I thought Froch edged it.
I think you need to watch the fight again. I had to give Froch rounds, and still, Dirrell beat him in my books. Funny thing is, I thought Froch was going to dominate Dirrell. Dirrell was kind of a bitch tho.

It was Dirrells body language that gave you that first score card. Him falling all over the place? It's easy to just give Froch the round seeing him rough Dirrell up like that. But if you look at whos actually landing punches? No contest. Dirrell won that fight easy.
For me that was a clear as day Dirrell win....I don't see an argument for Froch to be honest, he did nothing apart from get outboxed and moved constantly. There was rarely a chance for him to get off, although I do think at times Dirrell looked a bit scared his movement was still very good and he hit Froch with some good clean shots throughout the fight.
I was very impressed with the way Dirrell handled the result and I think he will learn a lot from it. I hope Dirrell beats Abraham
Your score should ever have a swing like that. I can see a 3 point shift from stream to hdtv, I've done that too, but damn. You must have been pretty drunk. This fight was 8-4 or 9-3 Dirrell both times I watched it. Can't remember what it was.
Like I said, drunkenness ain't my thing. Things just weren't right for me on that morning, and the stream was atrocious in terms of quality. Most of the times in which I gave Froch a round was because I was just frustrated at trying to stay awake, frustrated at the shitty stream, and frustrated that I was shivering internally from too much Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I had no idea what was really going on in that ring.
Watching it the second time was a relaxing, calming experience with all the time in the world at my hands. I plan on re-scoring a lot of other seemingly close fights that way. It can be eye-opening stuff.
Fake Red Bullshit, man. :p
I don't "drink" in that sense of the word. Hence my being buzzed out of my skull by the time morning came. Those were some of the worst circumstances ever for scoring a fight, I tell ya...
Hahaha, yea man one judge was Daniel Van Dewiele; i know him personally; he lives in my city & i he's starting to hate me cuz everytime i see him i tell him that Dirrell won hahaha!

pittypat what were you drinking the night of the fight?

Well I'm glad you came to your senses, OP! I couldn't believe there were people on here defending the decision afterwards
It was more a case of holding out until I got a chance to watch it properly. Even as I was attempting to score the fight, nothing seemed right and the shoddy quality of the stream made it impossible to see some of the punches which either landed or didn't. Deep down, even with the first viewing scorecard, I knew Froch hadn't pulled it off.
High-def is a beautiful thing. We're blessed by the efforts of our in-house capping team.
yea yea..who cares about things like thoroughly outboxing your opponent. Dirrell "ran" and that should cancel out all his landed punches. What really matters is pressing your opponent whether it's effective or not and that's why Froch deserved the win.
