Let's say Pacquiao had not signed a fight with Clottey yet when Berto had to cancel the fight with Shane...do you think Pacquiao would've had the balls to fight Mosley?
(Note: this is an opinionated question)

So basically Pac should of fought Shane at 140-142 instead of Cotto at 145?

Roach wants Mosley for Pacquiao at 142 pounds
Freddie Roach wants Shane Mosley for Manny Pacquiao but only if the WBA welterweight champion agrees to drop down to 142 pounds.According to Rosenthal’s Ringtv.com blog, Roach reportedly asked Mosley, “Can you make 142 (pounds)?” to which “Sugar” replied, “No, I can’t get below 147.” “Then there’ll be no fight,” Roach declared. Mosley countered, “But you fought Oscar (de la Hoya) at 147?”
Roach replied, “You’re not Oscar.”(AKA you are too dangerous at your healthy weight)

Mosley Dared Pacquiao to Fight Him at 142 pounds
Shane Mosley is now agreeable to challenge Manny Pacquiao at 142 pounds. Earlier Freddie Roach, Pacquaio's trainer, dared Mosley to face the pound-for-pound king at 142 but he said he cannot fight at the weight lower than 145. Mosley, who is pushing 38, surprised boxing fans yesterday with his announcement of his decision to accept Pacquiao’s challenge to go down to 142 for a chance to fight him later this year. Mosley is holding on to a 147 pound title.

Roach: Mosley not on Pacquiao radar

SHANE MOSLEY: "I'M GOING TO 140; I WANT TO FIGHT PACQUIAO FOR HIS BELT"
"I'm going down to 140 and I want to fight Pacquiao for his belt because that's a belt I had never won. I have never won the jr. welterweight belt before. Also, at the same time, I can pick up the pound-for-pound belt. I believe I can make the weight so let's do it! There should be no 143, 141, 142 or all this other stuff. I'm going to 140 and fighting at his weight...I'm ready to make the sacrifice once again to get down to 140 or whatever it is. I used to make a big sacrifice to get to lightweight. I know how to make the weight. I know how to get down there and get to the weight and be strong so I can do it one more time to fight Pacquiao,"

Freddie Roach believes Cotto is damaged goods
all Facts..100% true...
Brilliant manipulation of quotes!!! :notworthy:notworthy
sorry..this is not manipulated..youtube has videos also of Roach saying this on camera..
Well, quite frankly,in my opinion,Manny chose the lesser of 2 elites!!:dunno::dunno:Either way,if the opportunity was there,I believe Manny would have done it!!What's ur point,my dude??:boxing:You mean Cotto beating Mosley makes him lesser than the two? If Pac has only two choices between Mosley and Cotto to fight and Pac choose Mosley people will say why fights Mosley when he already lost to Cotto? So Pac did the right thing beside he already showed his willingness to fight him after the Hatton fight.
I'm not fooling myself. If what you said above was true, we would have May-Pac right now. they would have come to an agreement one way or another.
No, Mayweather had all the voice in the negotiations in concern to the May/Pac fight. GBP does not represent Mayweather like they would a "True" GBP fighter. They are more like paid consultants in regards to Mayweather.

Manny can wait for the winner between pbf and ssm I mean Manny has an election to campaign late March and May 10 to win. If he losses in election then a fight may take place around august or September but if he wins then around november or december.
besides even if Margarito wins his latest fight will still not become as popular as the winner between pbf and ssm. Fans will demand the winner to fight Pacquiao next or boycott boxing. The fans can't be fooled twice you know.
Don't fool yourself. TR and GBP will work to together seamlessly as long as it is about making the most money possible.

true.
which is fine that it was bigger financially. but Shane beat the guy that beat Cotto, which made him the guy in the division. Ppl are making it seem as though they would have fought at the drop of a hat, I don't see it. Cotto beat Mosely and a whole country begind him to boost gate and PPV revenue.
but Mosley has a win over the guy that beat Cotto for the welterweight title.
hate? dude stop. I still don't think that he would have fought Mosley if he were available. Based on the relationship (lack thereof) with TR and GBP. I dont think we will see them working together anytime soon.

no way to find out.
if only the berto fight got cancelled sooner.
we'll never know.
true.
You are missing the answer Webb.
It was already said. At the time Cotto beat Mosely and Cotto vs. Pac was a bigger financial windfall that Mosely vs. Pac.
I respect you man but the premise you are angling towards is off.

those 2 are on the same level and cotto is clearly the bigger draw with the PR backing. What's the problem there?? And cotto has a win on mosley so...

The question is after the Cotto fight. Had Mosley been available, Pac would have fought him instead of Clottey.
You have no point but hate coz you're moving away from the question.

I think Manny would do it, but Mosley is the most dangerous out there for him so I think they would try for some concessions, if you know what i mean. Wel maybe not so much now but at first they seemed a little worried about manny fighting true full blown welters, but they seem to have relaxed that.
The point is, people are making it seem as if Pac would fight Shane in a heartbeat, but that is not the case. He had the chance to do that and it didn't happen (Shane is the CHAMP at 147). Ppl are making these assumptions based on the fact that we haven't gotten an official announcement of Mayweather vs Mosley.

because cotto was more money?
because cotto beat mosley?
because cotto was with top rank?
which is fine, I'm not saying that he ducked Shane or he was afraid of him.
But ppl in this thread are making it seem as though he would fight Shane in heartbeat. Plus the stance that GBP took on the whole OST deal. I don't think this fight would happen at the drop of a hat.
Two great choices: Cotto or Mosley and he picked Cotto....what's the problem with that??
in the same token, boxing fans cannot blame floyd for taking his time to select his next opponent...
shane mosley or matthew hatton
two great choices and it couldn't have been any more difficult than this. what's the problem with that?

as I have asked others in this thread, if that is the case, why didn't they fight BEFORE Manny fought Cotto?

Because Bob Arum promotes both fighters and Manny defers to him.
Mayweather talks a lot of smack, but one thing I definitely agree with him on is that Arum doesn't like to share the pot with other promoters and if there's an option to put on a fight between two fighters under his control, he's going to do it.
why didnt they make that fight BEFORE the Cotto fight then? real question.
thank you Coach..thank you!
its common knowledge Mosley begged for a fight w/ Pac, before they chose to go with Cotto instead. Mosley went to Roach and Roach said only at 140/142..Molsey was so desperate he ended up agreeing..and they still passed..wtf more proof do these idiots need?
