Carlos Quintana is an underrated boxer in my opinion BUT his only decent win is against an overhyped Williams.
Urkal sucks
Judah has talent but when does he ever use it??
Margarito also has at WW.....Martinez, Randall, Lewis, Diaz, etc. PLUS more than 7 defense titles. Cotto may be a more "skilled" boxer in the movement department but he isn't better than Margs at WW. He isn't going to do much either at 154.
An overhyped Williams that beat Margarito. He beat Mosley who beat Margarito also and Margarito never faced a fighter of Pacquiao''s caliber and as hot as he was. Cotto faced better opposition IMO
BTW Martinez was green and they weigh in over 147 (Martinez 148) so it was a JR Midleweight fight, it doesn't count on his WW resume.
When your the best WW in the decade. Your a HOF.
Too right. Cotto is a great boxer, and he never ducked anybody, he was unlcuky to lose to margarito cos toyn could have had his hands wrapeed with that plaster.
Actually its not if you base it off accomplishments. Margs has Cotto beat pretty easy.
But overall they are sick in the last couple of years. They took the risks OTHERS DIDN'T.
This is gonna change with Mosley manning up and fighting Floyd. And LMAO at Cotto being a risk taker. I guess that's why Daddy Arum told him to fight Michael Jennings or else. Who's the one manning up and fighting Floyd? It certainly wasn't Cotto. It was up to Arum for Cotto where as Mosley got up into Floyd's face on TV. Mosley's tune ups at 147 > Cotto's tune ups at 147.
Estrada and Collazo are better than Gomez and Jennings.
And when it's all said and done, Mosley is gonna have Floyd, Cotto, and Margarito on his resume. I had Mosley winning against Cotto in a close fight too.
Picking between Tony and Cotto's resumes at WW is like splitting hairs.
The two are clearly the two best WW's of the decade. Who's number one is all about preference IMO.
The two's resume's at Welter are SICK.
Yeah man. Cheers. I was really hoping Pbf did not retire that time to fight the winner of Cotto-Marg. There would have been a much clearer undisputed champion at WW that time. It is still muddy now. Hopefully, we get the winner of pac-clotter and pbf-mosley to fight.
JWW and WW are Cotto's first 2 divisions. The fair comparison would be to compare that resume to Floyd's first 2 divisions, SFW and LW. Hernandez, Corrales, Chavez, Castillo 2x. Undefeated. Actually took the title from 2 champs. 11 total title defenses.
Compare that pendejo.
handpicking opponents vs. fighting all comers
I know some people don't like this comparison, but Cotto reminds me of Ottke in a lotta ways. Would he have really won his most meaningful fights if he had to fight them outside of his comfort zone? That is the comparison that I think of. I'm not saying Cotto was protected like Ottke was. But to say he didn't receive preferential treatment like getting away with low blowing Zab Judah and having one or two judges give him a 4 point margin in the Clottey and Mosley decisions is not being real. That is what I talk about when I bring up favoratism.
We also might not have had to wait until Shane Mosley has gray hairs on his Go T to fight Floyd if those judges gave him the decision that he deserved over Junito.

You are trying to get away from my beef against posters who take the vacant titles of Cotto as something to nitpick. Cotto took vacant titles at JWW and WW. So, it would be fair to compare Pbf because he took titles from champions at JWW and WW ... not vacant ones. I'm not trying to take anything away from Floyd because clearly ... base on entire resumes Floyd >>> Cotto.

The vacant title thing is retarded.
And that's not a valid comparison because of time spent in the divisions.
Floyd moved up quick. Cotto has planted his feet in the two divisions.
You can just as easily argue that at least Cotto didn't move up, beat up on a few bums, and than leave the division before fighting a live soul.
I mean don't get me wrong.....Floyd>>>>>Cotto no doubt. But give the guy some credit, and get away from the Vacant title bullshit. That argument is so tired and groundless.
Oh please, the only evidence you have of Pac being on roids is him whooping ass. Thanks for that

THere was a discussion on the boxing history forum on this topic few months ago. I think he needs another big win at 154 to get a 3rd weight class and that will increase his chances. Of course, his only two losses will be debated but they are still officially losses and not ruled as NC.
