I do agree Clottey deserve a larger piece of the fight, and although maybe he is near or araound the level of cotto as a fighter but clottey is no where near the purse level of Cotto, that's just the way how boxing business goes... although that's a very good idea, it dont happen the only bonus they could get is if they have huge ppv buys or if the promoters get lesser cut than they used to... I agree that Clottey deserves more, probably at least $2 million, but you have to remember that this probably the highest payday for Clottey. And if they didn't pick Clottey, who do you think Clottey will be fighting, and what other fights can Clottey have that would pay him this much and give him an opportunity to be on top. So instead of criticizing Arum or Manny(Manny doesn't even have anything to do on how much Clottey should get paid), why not instead look at the bright side for Clottey.

Clottey, while not extremely popular with the American public is a former belt holder and deserves a bigger piece of the pie. Especially since HE IS A ARUM FIGHTER. Actually, Diaz originally was only getting $800k, but after or before the fight, Manny promised to give him an extra $200k. BTW, Cotto is a bigger name than Clottey and he was the defending champion. Okey I remember that, PAC talked to Bob to give Diaz 1 Million instead of 800k... Maybe their is chance that Manny ask Bob to raise Clottey's purse as well...

considering cotto got I think 6M, i also expected clottey to be offered higher than 1M. Again, the others are right. He is happy to receive 1M, I am still trying to look for that article, but if I recall, the highest purse Clottey ever received was 300K. now hopefully joshua clottey can put up a great fight and earn extra bucks by taking the fight to manny pacquaio i give him a decent chance to make it a good fight so that 1million should be well deserved and earned by joshua clottey

How many PPV's do you predict Pac/Clottey does? I don't think the PPV numbers will be all that great - A Philippine fighter fighting a fighter from Ghana at Dallas stadium. I don't see, other than the hardcore fan ... how public attention is stimulated. IMO, Dallas stadium is not a good place to have fights, because there is nothing to do post-fight. Big fights have always been associated with Vegas and the post-fight activities. W'sup my man. I think 1 mil is not so good. Sure it's a lot of money to us, but considering how much Pacquiao will make it's peanuts. My point exactly - Clottey should have at the very least, gotten a similar deal\percentage to what Cotto got to fight Pac. Giving 1mill to Clottey while Pac is taking 70% more is unfair and goes to how much of a snake Arum is.
