As I’m reading news and threads here, a lot folks still seem to think that Floyd will be fighting on March 13th. To me, this does not make any kind of business sense. First of all, PPV cards do not fair well when competing against other PPV cards. Further to that, competing with a huge ppv draw like Manny Pacquaio, is guaranteed to limit the number of ppv buys you can sell. Also, Floyd is a HBO fighter and I don't see him fighting on another network....
IDK, maybe I’m missing the point here, but why would both Mayweather and Pacquaio fight on the same night, if they’re not facing one another. I think half the people on boxingscene would buy the Floyd card while the other half would buy the Pacquiao card (I’d buy the Pacqaio card). Actually, I think a lot of people here would buy both cards!..:lol1:…
Someone please address this issue...
Berto's pull out from the Mosley fight changes the dynamic entirely. The prospect of a Mosley-Mayweather fight trumps anything that Pacquaio can do right now IMO...
IF floyd fights Shane in March, I'll definetely tip my hat for him. It's still a big if though isn't it?

As a smart man, I'm telling you now that Pac Clottey will be an independent PPV and Floyd will get the HBO backing if he indeed chooses to fight on March 13.
it wont happen
Not really cuz you can order the fight and Tivo the free HBO...
And, anyways will HBO go for Floyd on free TV over a Pac PPV?
Come on bro be a smart a business man... Think logically for once...

Its not unusual for Top Rank to broadcast an independent PPV. I will tell you now that HBO is more loyal to GBP than it is to Top Rank. HBO may not even see Pac - Clottey as being profitable and they may pass on it anyway.
Have you not noticed the HBO suits wanted Mayweather-Pacquiao, not Pacquiao-Clottey. I predict right now, Pac-Clottey will be an independent PPV. HBOPPV isn't buying that fight.
I guess it's not a clear as I thought (as with everything in boxing); we'll have to stay tuned to see what happens. And now with the Berto pulling out of the Mosley fight, who knows what will happen next?
Wait, wait, wait. Are meaning to tell me, that HBO would not carry the Pacqaio-Clottey PPV and instead show Floyd free? That's ridiculous (no flames), HBO is not going to forgoe the huge PPV revenue that Pac will generate...

Floyd can fight on free HBO on March 13, get a guaranteed payment and that alone will destroy Pac's PPV #'s with Clottey. Most people will watch the free fight. If you know you got the Mosley/Berto winner later in the year, he doesn't have to concern himself with Pacquiao-Clottey does. Be honest with you, that would be the best way to crash Top Rank's party, simply fight a decent opponent on regular HBO. I know Pac fans would hate that, but its okay, you'll be alright. After all Pac can still make that big blockbuster PPV event with Yuri Foreman later on this year.

Kind of sad that all you have left in the boxing world is hating on other fighters now that you're idol has proven to be another overrated Euro bum like I was telling you for the past 2 years.
It's YOUR idol. Not YOU'RE idol.
And yeah. Ward's win is worthless.

Financially it doesn't make $ense for Mayweather. This guy has a huge ego and is not going to be outdone by Pacman. I think the sensible thing would be to fight in April or May when you don't have to compete against another big PPV event..
Also, if Floyd does fight the same night, is he gonna fight on HBO? Probably not b/c HBO doesn't have the $$$ to buy two high profile cards. Honestly, I don't see how it can happen. Give a me feasible scenario where both fighters fight on the 13th...

Why not fight on March 13, he stays sharp, he makes some money, he moves on to the Mosley-Berto winner in the Summer, I doubt it will be May 1. Also, Shane and Berto will both do what they got to do to make the fight happen so Floyd should take his March 13th date, stay sharp and see Mosley in the future. He doesn't have to be concerned with PPV numbers or upstaging Pac Clottey cause like I said, the biggest fight of the year is going to be May-Mosley regardless.

floyd don need to fight nobody he 40-0 and if he retire he 2day then he the gratest of all time belev dat!!!
yea he would be the greatest of all time (after Pacquiao, Mosley, Cotto & Berto.)
Fighting at the same date as Manny keeps peoples attention on that big clash. And the pac fight is basically the only big fight Floyd wants so he bides his time fighting tune-ups and never risking his precious 0.
