Well, lets see if this article is true. In the next few days the announcement should happen....

LOS ANGELES - JANUARY 24: Shane Mosley lands a punch on Antonio Margarito en route to his TKO in the ninth round after Margarito's corner threw in the towel during their WBA welterweight title fight on January 24, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Well, I've got to give credit to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sources say he's stepped up to agree to fight Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1.
Although not officially confirmed, the word is that the deal just needs to be signed.
Mosley stepped in the ring and called out Mayweather Jr. in his recent fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.
Mayweather Jr. maintains that Mosley has been ducking him for years and he repeatedly called him out in 1999 when he was fighting at 130 lbs and Mosley was at 135 lbs. Mosley moved up to 147 lbs and eventually beat Oscar De La Hoya.
To say the least, this match has the requisite acrimony. I really don't think either fighter likes the other.
This fight should quiet some of the critics who have accused Floyd of cherry-picking smaller fighters. Of course, the fact that Mosley is 39 years old won't keep all of the boo birds quiet.
However, Mosley should be a difficult opponent for Floyd. He's bigger and stronger than most opponents Floyd has faced. He's also extremely experienced and has been in major fights for the past 10 years.
The details are fuzzy on whether Mayweather will face another opponent prior to facing Mosley. It's highly doubtful Floyd would face anyone prior to such a big fight.
My prediction?
I think Floyd will win in a decision. He looked very good against Juan Manuel Marquez. At this point in his career, the only way to beat Floyd Mayweather is to pressure him constantly and counter his counter attacks.
Or, to simply overpower him.
I'm not sure Mosley has the stamina to pressure him for 12 rounds. I don't know if he has the strength to truly overpower him.
That said, he looked great against Antonio Margarito.
Another wild card will be the trainer for Mosley. I've got to wonder if he looks up Freddie Roach? Roach seemed to have a very good strategy against Floyd when he trained De La Hoya.
I'm glad Floyd chose a worthy opponent and isn't fighting the same day as Manny Pacquiao (as some had suggested).
That would have been disappointing to all.
Stay tuned for the official announcement of this fight.
LMAO the writer already has a prediction for a floyd-mosley fight when mosley has a fight coming up against a young buck.. LOL.. I wonder who are his sources his mama??
You must not be up to date with your sources, don't worry I will forgive you!
This is so disrespectful to Berto and another example of the circus that surrounds Floyd. Its almost like Berto is fighting more than just Mosley. All we need now is for Mosley to hear the last bell and he will get the nod. Andre must be pissed.
Thats spot on that post. Guess what tho its just gonna Fire him up and make him train harder. Mosley? Im not sure if it will inspire him to really do a number on Berto so he can get the fight or if he will be looking past Andre and onto Floyd TOO much.
Regardless its no gimmie and im feeling an upset, still rootin for Shane tho
yeah with a Berto-Mosley fight coming up
I really don't like hearing about a potential Mosley-Mayweather fight for the simple reason that a Mosley loss would make a Mayweather showdown pretty much pointless.
news outlets and whatever should at least wait till the outcome of Berto-Mosley.
then we'll be in the same position we're in now....idk man, i've given up hope on the fight actually happening. it'll be nice if it does, but i don't care about it anymore......
all that shit did was take attention away from fights like mosley-berto....even still, mayweather-pacquiao nonsense floods the board. if it's not that, its mayweather-mosley.
i'm not looking past berto-mosley tho.
i shouldn't have said "nobody." but shane was definitely at the point where he was pretty irrelevant in his career. after he lost to cotto, nobody was checking for shane anymore, until like i said, he beat margarito.
it's pretty amazing what looking good against the right opponent does to people's memories.....
roy jones beats a nobody, and looks good, then you have ppl on here screaming he can beat hopkins....now look where he's at.
mayweather mosley would've been nice a few years back when mayweather challenged him. IF mosley beats berto, then mayweather-mosley will be the biggest fight in boxing, besides what mayweather-pacquiao could've been. but i think berto gives it to shane, so i'm not even looking at mayweather-mosley right now.
I see you are pretty confident in Berto winning that fight... Berto is a little inexperienced. He has a little trouble with COllazo. I feel like he needed a couple of more fights before facing Mosley, but we'll see. He has talent, but he has some handicaps that are big obstacles in the WW division.
Maybe, but he wont get it and it will be another one to add to the list of fights Floyd didnt have. It wasnt 60-40 that made me chuckle though.

I don't know man... If someone said he was a nobody then they must have been jumping the gun a little. He has always been competitive and he hasn't lost much. I think if he fought Cotto in another venue and Cotto wasn't the up and coming star... Mosley would have won on points.
He is a top 3 welterweight no question.

mayweather will definitely ask for 60-40 after pac-clottey flops.....
May's PPV #'s vs Mosley will easily top Pac-Clottey, guess Top Rank forgot Floyd has options to.
Slow down lads, Mosley has gotta get by Berto first and that is far from certain, infact im feeling an upset!
Still nice to see Floyds grown a pair, well IF its true.
mayweather will definitely ask for 60-40 after pac-clottey flops.....
thinking the same thing.
If Mosley/May happens..that will blow Pac/Clottey out the water..guaranteed!
but May must get through Mosley..who to me, is a tougher opponenet than Pac..as far as styles go..and when/if that happens May will want 60/40..and Arum even said if Pacs numbers are better than Floyds numbers for their upcoming fights..they will have to re-negotiate the split..so what makes these idiots think Floyd wont do the same...
mosley was a nobody, until he beat margarito....ppl were calling for him to retire before that.
he beats margs, and he's hot shit again. my guess, berto knocks his ass back into obscurity.

Ye your right about Shane's defense with his hands to his chest, but I still believe he will be more of a problem for Floyd then Oscar was BUT I will go do my homework and watch that fight over...
Mosley has that speed but he can't fight slick fighters. Also watch delahoya vs mosley 2 and watch how much trouble delahoya gave shane with movement. Shane will be out classed by Mayweather IMO, and he still is a great fighter even if he loses to Floyd.
:rofl::rofl: There has been some proper flomo dogshit posted of late, but this is right up there!
mayweather will definitely ask for 60-40 after pac-clottey flops.....
I meant to say within the past couple of years... I don't recall any fights in the past couple of years that would be this big

mosley will be in his 40's in a couple of years....

Mosley-Floyd would be the best fight in a couple of years. Mosley is a tricky customer because he can counter with extreme power and has more strength when holding. Floyd holds smaller fighters when they are close. He uses his legs when they are bigger. (the exception was Oscar) It is the closing thing I have seen to a 50-50 in a Floyd match.

Watch that delahoya fight and you will see delahoya use the peek a boo stye. He was catching alot of mayweather shots on his gloves. Floyd did land that right hand whenever he wanted to. But Shane keeps his hand at his chest. He has done this his entire career. He is a sucker for a jab and right hand. He doesn't defend as well as delahoya. I also believe that if floyd would have opened up more against delahoya and didn't stayed so defensive he would have punished him too.
