To all the Pactards and Floyd haterz who say “Manny‘s legacy is cemented and Floyd is the one who has to prove something”; please let that ish go! A fighter who has dominated for a decade, won 8 titles in 5 different weight classes, beat 13 champions in those weight classes, and considered 1 of and top pound 4 pound fighter of this decade every single year need not cement anything. His legacy is sealed and his HOF creds are already waiting on him at Canasota, NY.
He and Manny as well only need to clear up 1 thing (well…manny does have a Steroid issue to clear) and that is to determine who is the best fighter of this decade!
Floyd is ready and willing…..when will Manny??????
Floyd's already a hall of famer and an all time great.
But the fact is, Pacquiao is generally rated above Floyd by the majority of the boxing community. you can call it opinion, you can call it inaccurate, but thats a FACT. So if there is anything Floyd has to fight fore, its to be considered this generation's best fighter because that would place him above Pacquiao and he certainly wont do that fighting Nate Campbell.
Yes but it's still wrong. In the 2nd world war 99% of the Germans agreed with Hitler on ERADICATING the Jews. Did that make it a right thing to do? No, and that's exactly what's up. Back then, when all was set and done, europe lost it's #1 spot as THE world power (yes, America wasn't shit back then), and the Germans blamed Hitler's propaganda. That's also BS, you can't tell a countries entire population to do something that evil and people buy it! Hell the president can't even sell the Health care reform to the people who most need it (Tea parties in Pizza Hut featuring poor people, protesting against the HCR is just plain sad to see)!
Same with Floyd. He dominated the p4p ranks much longer than Pacquiao as even been around as one of the best. He was the p4p #3 only 3 years into his pro career. Did he put himself there? No, we did! We and the media! If we consider a decade 10 years (even 9, 8 or 7) Mayweather wins hands down. That's not open to opinion imo, it's a fact (as most Germans hated jews enough to gas and burn them all making lamps and soap out of their skins and fat in the WW2 times), documented easily verified. Yes Pacquiao is hotter NOW but was Ali shit when he lost to Norton? I mean Norton was pretty hot then too, who's hotter now?
My point isn't hating on Pacquiao (or the Germans), all I'm saying is that sometimes a big group of people can be wrong and evil and just because they are many, it doesn't make them right.
You just don't get it aren't you? how could gayweather be in a "hall of shame" or even ATG when he's not fighting top contender? Yah he's fighting top contender in the lower division, bringing them to higher division to fight them. There's No Legacy on that! I would be undefeated too if i'm fighting Bitche$$!!
:D
WoW!!!!!!!!!
since Allucard queefed on your behalf and demanded some kind of feedback to fuel an 'argument' (his words)
PAC could have retired immediately after DLH and his legacy would have been set...his resume speaks for itself
and while you cite all of floyd's accomplishments, tell me why most media outlets aren't making cases for his place on ATG lists? why?
dont give me the 'they hate floyd' angle...accomplishments are accomplishments so, why isn't he being praised? could it be that his legacy is NOT cemented?

You can't knock on Manny for moving up these weight class and fighting hard challenges all the way. He was considered the midget in his past fights but still won. and hes about to fight another tough as nails fighter he didnt have to in Clottey. Would Floyd fight Clottey? Hell no.
But Floyd is considering to fight Nate Campbell in his next fight? Floyd is hurting himself, well already hurt himself by not fighting the WW division the past 2 years. He could have beaten Cotto, Mosley, Margarito and his career would have been sealed perfect. Instead he chose to retire after fighting a 140 pounder, then now a 135 pounder, now another 140 pounder while calling himself a WW.
Because Clottey poses a serious threat right?
A lot of this talk reminds me of Cooney vs Holmes in the early 80's, w/ all of the polarization and hate (especially of Mayweather). Although everyone favors Manny because of his "good guy" image, it doesn't necessarily make him the greatest. The public villified Ali during his prime w/ a lot of public watching his fights to see him get KTFO but now the American public loves him.

i'm not knocking him. what i'm disputing is these so-called hard challenges. david Diaz is no world beater and pacquiao is no midget!
and yes floyd would fight clottey if it paid well. But what does beating clottey mean? Who has clottey beat to make him so tough or elite? In his biggest fights, he has found a way to lose.
let me put it this way, If floyd decided to fight a fighter who just lost his previous bout, he would be crucified by u critics. Now say he wouldn't and I'll give you an actaul example that will prove you wrong

he's destroying it bit by bit tho, by not fighting the best while still at his prime. Like it or not if continues to cherrypick his accomplishments at the lower weights will be overshadowed by all the ducking at WW trust me.
who was the best and he didn't fight? name these people and when?

lol....do you see names of peolpe fans wanted floyd to fight the mosts on his resume?.......lol......and majority of his fights were cherrypicked.....
i'm asking u to name them. who did he fight and who should he have fought and when?
You Flomos seem to be forgetting Manny's past acheivements. You only seem to be seeing his recent wins? Barrera, Morales, Marquez and his pre fights before those too anyone?
i haven't forgot, matter of fact, I think he had those same wins before floyd retired and he was still #2!
matter of fact, previous floyd opponent's is what made him into what he is today!
Matter of fact, he has 2 close fights with JMM in which 1 he actually lost in IMO. IMO, barrera was over the hill in the last fight and morales beat him once past his best and lost 1 just past his best, and lost another way past his best!
We haven't forgot!

Willing to fight nate @ 154 ?
i wouldn't say most or majority, but i get your point and I agree. But manny has to fight for that as well. a lot of has some factual criticism of him fighting fighters past prime, skipping the true champion of the division, fighting weight drained fighters, and 1 dimensional or the same style of fighter over and over again!
manny has to agree to get in the ring to see who is that fighter of this decade. Because i damn sho ain't crowning him and only recently has been impressed by him.
and truth be told, u shouldn't crown him either until he fights the fighter who has been dominated all of thos decade and then some!
You Flomos seem to be forgetting Manny's past acheivements. You only seem to be seeing his recent wins? Barrera, Morales, Marquez and his pre fights before those too anyone?
nope...... floyd gets crticised for ducking and cherrypickin ,and he keeps on proving them right while pac keeps proving his doubters wrong beating great bigger men.....thats what i was talkin about.....
who did he duck and cherrypick and when?
after the Gatti fight, he beat Baldomir and DLH for those titles, cort...the same DLH who was inactive for a year
and are you really trumpeting the JMM win? really?
just take a step back and look at your argument for second...why do you feel that you have to convince the masses about floyd's legacy...shouldn't a fighter's body of work do that on its own?
i'm not trying to persuade anybody of anything. i'm making a statement! baldomir earned that lineal title, he was that guy and Floyd did the right thing by fighting him. DLH was a champion, he beat the guy who was 1 of the champions. matter of fact, that same guy was the undisputed champion of 147 as well. he beat the guy who beat the guy to become that champion. The guys Floyd fought and defeated earned their shot and ranking in the ring my dude!
as far as the JMM win, i don't hold that in as high regard as some of his other fights, depsite that he still was the #2 guy. and floyd still beat him quite impressively after a 2 yr layoff. another fact, JMM has never lost decisively before that fight so there is an argument to be made whether affirmative or negative.
because many times, pac has proven his doubters and critics wrong while floyd has proven them right..............
or is it that pac isn't always expected to win and floyd always is....if u disagree, ask yourself this: who would be favored over Floyd in a prize fight?
a majority of the accomplishments you cited happened BEFORE the Gatti fight...when you come back from retirement, the boxing community EXPECTS something from you...
please re-read my previous post...and try to comprehend what i wrote...if you can't then i can't help you...
after the gatti fight, he got 2 more belts in 2 different weight classes. After the gatti fight he beat the former undisputed champion and then beat his conqueror who was the lineal champion. after the gatti fight, he beat a top P4P fighter who was also undefeated by knock out. after the gatti fight, he beat the #2 rated P4P fighter in a whitewash.
After the gatti fight, he didn't do too bad compared to most standards!
ummm, no
he's held to the same standards as everyone else...that's why his legacy is not cemented
IF floyd had retired and stayed retired after the gatti fight, he would have gotten the same props as PAC is getting now...instead, you get pouty retirements sandwiched in between cherry picked fights...you REALLY think that flies to people outside the Flomo community?
Again, u don't win titles in 5 different weight classes, beat 13 champions, become champion a yr within your career and dominate for a whole decade while remaining undefeated and not have your legacy sealed.
no one has won 5 belts in 5 different weight classes as fast as he has. That is history in itself, let alone being ranked at the top of class your whole career.
So to say his legacy is not sealed is just blind hatred, foolishness, or BOTH!

No , it is not that. His standards are byond reproach. he is held to a standard no other fighter is. i guess that is the gift and curse of his success and skills. in a way it is a compliment to his achievement and greatness becuase no other fighter including Pacquiao is held to that same standard!
