I agree it seems like he really idolized punchito, who did the same!!! pretended to like vargas then as soon as he had the chance jumped over to gayla hoya!!!
I think victor fights like vargas but has a persona like gayla hoya!!!
I liked this kid alot more before he jumped in bed with the fishnet panzy!!!
didnt gaylahoya knock vargas the **** out lol and he tried to cheat and still got beat lol
I still think that he can be a great fighter if he gets a new trainer, but damn in a weird way he brings out the best qualities of both de la hoya and vargas in his personality and fighting style...
Ortiz has a good head on his shoulders. Everyone is on a different journey in this life. I think Ortiz admires Varga's rise to fame and his accomplishments in the ring more so than his life outside of it, and can more readily relate to Vargas since their both Mexican American, from the same neighborhood, and in the same industry.
His future remains to be seen.
Exactly; since when has it been cool to hate on someone that has the roughest background in the top of the division? That's hateraid!!!
another illegal immigrant that can't spell but somehow managed to slip over the border and is now busy humping Ortiz
:lew:
:baby:
Yeah it sure does make him such a bitch for choosing NOT to idolize a total punk-ass shitbag gangster like Fernando Vargas and instead go with the clean-cut almost universally loved Oscar De La Hoya.
Yeah, he should have hitched his wagon to Fernando Vargas star just b/c they were both from La Colonia projects down in Oxnard...that would've been keepin it REAL, right?!?! The same Vargas who was still getting in gang fights beating people up with golf clubs in Carpenteria less than a month before an important fight. Vargas was a punk and ran around with trashy gangsters all the time and never got away from that even after becoming a successful professional boxer. Why in the world should Ortiz, a kid who seems to be intelligent, well-mannered, well-spoken, and wants to get AWAY from his rough childhood background intentionally "keep it gangsta" like that, just so some internet retards don't accuse him of being a sell-out??? Kid has a good head on his shoulders and is a model of how to conduct oneself when coming from such a rough upbringing, and there is no reason to fault him for getting away from trash like Vargas and all of his Oxnard hoodlum cronies...
That being said, he did disappoint me with his comments after the Maidana fight and hopefully kid comes back and has a successful career.
Good post.

Ortiz is still young and has long road ahead. Has a lot of potential, but if his heart is not in it as a boxer, he won't be around for long. His style needs much tweaking. Especially his defense if he's to be a force to be reckoned with.
If all else fails, he'd make a great commentator someday. Kid is well spoken and is likable. I wish him well.
some of you guys are assholes. ortiz is just a kid, he's comming up in the game. he's got alot to learn. you don't need to dissect him. he's moving on and looking for a rematch. how are any of you fools gonna talk about heart? i guarantee ain't none of you have the heart this kid has, most of you ain't even laced'em up and stepped into the ring.

Ortiz is a fraud, fake an phony. He idolized El Feroz had the same haircut, wore the same bandana an trained at the same gym. Yet as soon as GBP came around he denounced Vargas as his idol an claimed Oscar was his idol. He was coached to be a fake. Top Rank was moving him slow cuz they knew his chin was shaky an he was a front runner. GBP rushed em an coached him on what 2 say. He got what he deserved. U sell out that what u get.

The very first quote in the video says "victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay its price." Obviously this documentary was put out before the Maidana fight, but that quote is very relevant now.
In the video it says that after he lost at the Olympic trials his trainer said it was like Ortiz wanted to give up boxing and they had to give him a talking to to keep him going and then Ortiz says after that happened he's never once thought about quitting boxing...
Fast forward to the Maidana fight and he's talking like he wants to quit boxing again and he has to have another talking to by the GBP crew. That's starting to seem like a pattern and questions arise. Is he gonna need convincing every time things get tough?
After the Maidana loss he also said that his brother and sister not being there to support him got him down before the fight and you have to ask yourself if he has the inner strength to go through the boxing grind where you're ultimately alone in the ring to fend for yourself.
He talks a lot about having had to grow up so young and practically raising himself and his brother, but I don't see that same strength and independence when it comes to boxing. He seems really dependent on outside support for that and that's where you have to question his heart and willingness when it comes to boxing because I don't think anyone can question his heart and willing outside of the ring based on what he's been through and done.
Thats how ppl are in here...they talk crap about prospects then when they become something bigger they start hopping on the bandwaggon...look at Amir Khan...alot of ppl were on his nutts when he beat koltenik...once Ortiz becomes a world champ all that talk will stop... The kids been through alot and boxing saved his life its a blessing what boxing can do for someone's life
Dude there were like at least 6 shots in the highlight video that a lot of boxers would have fell to the floor from.
Give the kid a break, he still has a lot of time on his side.
