"At the end of his career"
So what? I'd much prefer he face Chad Dawson but I ain't that mad. B-Hop has done alot for the sport.
.. . . . ... . . ... like??
No it didn't, I don't really give a **** what you or anyone else says, Hopkins should fight the best or retire. It's just stupid to continue fighting nobodies at his age.
its the story of his career really...never really wanted to fight equally sized, equally talented fighters....
This thread really backfired :lol1:

He doesn't have much of a legacy to lose truth be told.. well a legacy of bringing up bigger named smaller fighters he has that..
my sentiments exactly
Ali had the WBC & WBA heavyweight belts when he lost to spinks and had the WBA belt when he lost to Larry Holmes.
So even though Ali was clearly past his prime, he was still regarded as one of the best.
Has Hopkins ever looked as bad as Ali did against Holmes? Or even close?
I agree. Hop's legacy is cemented, and fighting Roy Jones Jr isn't going to change that. If anything, a win even at this stage in both of their careers, would be a nice way to top off a hall of fame career. Avenging the only clear defeat of his career.
But I hope they aren't going to ask boxing fans to pay to see this fight on PPV.
That would be terrible.
Funny hearing people compare Hopkins to Ali at the end of his career on the one hand, yet almost everyone has him in their top 3 current pound for pound fighters.
This fight says to me that he is winding down his career and that maybe we should stop thinking of him as a top tier boxer. He's a clever man and he knows where he's at and what he's capable of and it seems he doesn't feel he can compete with the best of the new generation any more.
Hopkins' legacy is set in stone. He's near the end of his career, he can fight anyone he pleases. He can even lose to a bum and he'd still be great.
Question, when RJJ lost to then unknown Danny Green, did RJJ's legacy take a hit?
hell no, he's old and past it. Same thing for Bhop, only thing is that he's actually stayed 'younger' and like RJJ, a loss or a fight with a bum at this point in their career don't hurt a great legacy.
I don't have a problem with old man Hopkins fighting old man Jones. Both men have already proven themselves and besides they have personal beef. Let them fight. Lastly, I don't even consider the Danny Green fight when I think about RJJ.
Too much bullshit went down in that fight for me to take it seriously. From the illegal gloves Green wore to the rabbit punch that floored Roy.
F*** Danny Green! This is a fight I've been waiting for since 1994.
Do you really think that was a "rabbit punch" that dropped Roy? A punch behind the neck. Seriously?
