Sorry Marquez, Pacquiao isn't scared of you; he's scared for you

Marquez fell 3 times to a skinny Pacquiao (AP Photo)"When the fight between Mayweather against Pacquiao fell through, De La Hoya told me that I was the next option and I told him that I was ready to fight once more with him. He told me that he would speak with Bob Arum, but in the end they surprised me with his decision that he preferred to sign another fight, so once again he is afraid me," -- Juan Manuel Marquez
I got to wonder if this is part of GBP's GPB simply because it's hard for me to take this statement seriously.
For starters, I was one of the leading advocates saying Pacquiao should do a trilogy with Marquez when his fight with "Money May" fell through. Obviously that didn't happen and I could understand why Top Rank chief Bob Arum went on a different direction. Another crazy roller-coaster negotiations with GBP may very well do the 80 something year-old Arum in.
And far beyond sensible, GBP asked for a 50-50 split and a similar ridiculous blood-testing scheme for a Pac-JMM trilogy to happen. So that answers that. Maybe JMM prefers blood testing because he would rather keep his urine to himself, you know what I mean?
And now you got Marquez saying Pacquiao is afraid of him. That's just funny because Pacquiao was so afraid he went straight to fight a monster that comes into the ring at 170 lbs. who is in his prime and someone even Floyd Sr. said is like a sprained ankle -- he ain't something you should play with -- instead of the older and smaller Marquez.

As much as I admired Marquez' courage to face Mayweather last September, I still think he is a bit out of touch with reality. It's understandable to feel he won his two fights with Pacquiao, competitors never want to admit defeat. Remember when Kostya Tszyu knocked Super Zab Judah into starland in 2001? Or how about when Nonito Donaire Jr. had Vic Darchinyan doing the chicken dance? Judah could hardly get up, but the competitor in him still got him complaining to the referee for stopping the fight. And Darchinyan despite getting jacked-up still wouldn't accept defeat.

But to say Pacquiao is afraid of you? Don't be silly. If anything, Pacquiao is afraid for Marquez's own well-being.
Can you imagine what this two-handed monster upgrade version of Pacquiao would do to the older, slower and much damaged Marquez at the welterweight limit?
And how can you really say a person who has knocked you down four times in the past is afraid of you?Let the hecklers heckle and say I'm being biased again, but honestly, I'm just being honest! Is it really that hard to see?
I already stated my interest in a trilogy, but at 50-50 and all the badmouthing and drama and hate GBP brings, I'd say "Go home and drink your pee-pee" to Marquez too.
These Goldens I tell you. Too much hype. Too much trash-talking. Too much unnecessary press releases in the middle of negotiations bashing their opponents instead of just working things out professionally. I mean, do you hear Joshua Clottey taking shots at Floyd? And now you got all these GBP fighters like Campbell, Marquez, Dela Hopya etc. (Hopkins though has remained neutral and classy so I got to exclude him) It's just too much negativity going on on that camp if you ask me. And if I were the biggest attraction in boxing, I wouldn't even mess with em. Why would anyone want to submit themselves in this whole childish character assassination foolishness? Allow me to rephrase a statement from one Teddy Atlas, "To me, I feel dirty every time I go near another article or interview from a GBP fighter or person bashing Pacquiao. I feel like I got to take a shower or something."
