and I'm not just talking pay per views can anyone else name a fighter who has managed to earn fans across asia, europe and north and south america so well? every fight fan loves him and please noone say oscar, he was a south / north america phenomenon rather than a worlwide thing

It would take something special to achieve the same fame as Mike Tyson. if mike tyson was a low key farmers son with impecable manners and zero controversy surrounding him would he be as famous as he is? the answer is no but he'd have probably been a better and more succesful boxer

I wouldn't say that. I think a lot of people like that fact that a supposedly shy, humble kid is going around knocking out bigger fighters. His shy and humble nature is a part of his personality.

as soon as i made this thread the word 'ALI' popped into my head and tyson too for his entire aura/notoriety but considering those two were sort of hype mercahants, Ali by choice, Tyson by infammy, manny has managed to capture the worlds attention through sheer boxing ability rather than personality or interest in his private life
