"Clottey, instead, will be able to tip the scales at the standard welterweight ceiling of 147 pounds. And, by fight time, fully hydrated and fed, Clottey could be closer to or beyond 160 pounds when he walks into the ring.
Known as a large welterweight, Clottey has been troubled at times with making weight. Clottey has fought at more than 147 pounds 11 times during his career, including twice at 154.
"That's going to help me a lot, because I don't think I could have done it at 145 pounds. Pacquiao's being very nice, because he's the man now," said Clottey.
"That's going to make me the bigger guy in the ring," said Clottey. "So, with him choosing me to fight at 147, I respect him for that."
Clottey Interview
I don't even think Pac needs a catchweight to beat Clottey. Clottey is the same guy who lost Baldomir. Baldomir the guy the Floyd haters try to pretend wasn't a real WW.
From the hype of the fight:
"Despite trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Bob Arum declaring no need for a catchweight in Manny Pacquiao's upcoming March 13th welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey, apparently there's been a change of plans. According to Pacquiao's lawyer, Jeng Gacal, the WBO champion will indeed request his challenger to meet him at a weight south of the 147-pound limit. "We will push for the 145 catchweight," he would tell ABS-CBN as he revealed the deal is virtually done except for the matter of the weight."
No way!!! First Koncz said 145 then he said sorry 147 now Pac's lawyer is saying 145???

Roach and Konzc already made it clear that the fight is gonna be at 147..No catchweight.
Don't believe anything that amateur lawyer Gacal is saying. He's irrelevant...
I heard the only reason Pac hired him is because he's ralated to Jinkee.

Whatever weight the fight is gonna be (catchweight or not), I bet Pacquiao will come in at the weight stipulated by the contract.
don't change the topic. It's not like his making of the weight will stop him from cheating on his wife and the mother of his kids. Lesson for you: DO NOT CHANGE THE TOPIC.
What catch weight?
HAHAHAHA!
I posed a similar question on another thread! I don't think Pacquiao can get away with a catch-weight now, but if there is one the shit is going to hit the fan.
