Simple question. Manny fought Cotto and won and now it looks like the top 3 options for Pac are Malignaggi who was brutalized by Cotto like 3 years ago, Mosley (if he beats Berto) who lost a close but clear decision to Cotto according to most observers a couple years ago, and Clottey who lost a close SD to Cotto in the fight immediately preceding the Pac/Cotto fight. Why in the world would Pac be going after guys who all already lost to the guy he just defeated...seems like a backwards step, so to speak, doesnt it?
Oh, and as an aside...if Manny sets up a fight for March and Floyd sets something up around that time, who do ya'll think the Berto/Mosley winner would fight to avoid being left out in the cold for a long time? Margs? Cotto?
Cotto got a paper win and didn't really look great. Clottey had that fight, Cotto was weakening mentally and like Atlas says Clottey didn't behave like a fighter and go after a weakening opponent.....so if you want to call that a win go ahead.
We talked about this on here and most ppl agreed that Clottey is better overall and I predict will do better than Pac's last 4 opponents and certainly will not get stopped.
If by "better" you mean he won't get stopped...then you are most likely correct. If by "better" you mean have more success overall in terms of inflicting damage on Pacquiao and the fight being relatively close, I am interested to see if Clottey can pull off the workrate to do that. He can sit there in his shell all he wants and probably last the whole 12 but that doesnt mean he is being successful.
And what about the live ppv ****ing of Sienna West by pacquiao? That doesnt interest you more?

what's wrong with pacquiao fighting the #2 and #5 guy if he can't get a fight with #3 and he just finished fighting the #4?
How is Mayweather number 3 or even on the top 5 if he hasn't proven anything in the welter weight division?
the general public would probably only know the top 5 in the division, and they've been presented to you.
The general public would probably only know the top FOUR to be fair. No one in the general public knows who the hell Clottey is. I am actually very interested in seeing that fight were it to actually go off. Seems like some posters are under the impression I am against any of these fights. I just asked a ****ing question...no wonder real discussion never occurs here. Everyone is out to get in an argument.
Maybe TS wants PAC to fight matthew hatton
I do not WANT Pac to fight any particular individual. I asked a question that many casual fans would have. Maybe TS just had a genuine question that I was curious about and he could do without the typical dickhead snarky responses from idiots on this forum...ever consider THAT?!! Not every poster here has some agenda against one particular boxer or another. Some are just out for a discussion...although it seems that consists of less than 5% of posters here.
Never said there was anything WRONG with it. I just asked the question that most CASUAL boxing fans woulda ask. I actually would really like to see a Pac-Clottey fight...I was asking the Q more b/c I picture the casual fan thinking there was something wrong with him fighting guys who lost to the guy he just beat. That is the way the general public thinks.

maybe because cotto is a good fighter and he fought a lot of good guys?
don't know if you know this but generally guys fighting in the same division have similar opponents.
i know it's a shocker.
I don't know if you know this but my dick is larger than your entire body.
I think most will agree that Cotto didn't beat Clottey and that Clottey not only lost the fight for himself but is actually better than Cotto overall.
SSM right now is THEE WW champion, period. He has the strongest lineal claim and though lost a close fight to Cotto who Pac destroyed he crushed Margarito who made Cotto quit.
What do you want Pac to do if the Floyd things isn't happening, there is really not many places for him to go from here.
I would also disagree with your assertion that "most" would agree that Clottey is overall better than Cotto. I would like to see that fight again w/o a massive cut caused by a headbutt over Cotto's eye and see how it goes. Whatever the case, you are basically trying to say "Cotto didnt win...Clottey lost." If Clottey lost...then who WON?
Bs...
Both Floyd and the Pac fishing for the "safe" fight - is BS!
It all boils down to the Pac wanting to keep his #1 PVP title, and Fraud his 0. Both are trying to leverage the "safe" tuneup to gain "bargaining power" when the superfight eventually happens.
I think the powers that be (WBC, WBO, HBO and to some extent - Ring Magazine) needs to fix this by doing the following
1) Ring magazine should promote whoever wins the fight between Mosley and Berto to #2 in the PVP list.
(Note: Fraud will lose bargaining power if he ducks the winner, but if he fights and wins, can pretty much guarantee he will be the "draw" warranting a a bigger piece of the pie)
2) WBC and WBO should mandate that that the welterweight belts be unified - if the champs don't want to fight, have the "loser" vacate the title.
(Note: Pac will be forced to fight the best WW in the division, if he doesn't - he'll lose bargaining power. If he wins, he'll definitely be the "draw")
3) HBO should refuse to air via PPV the "safe" tuneup fights both boxers are trying make up right now.
(Note: Dont' show these fuqers the money as their lame actions are hurting boxing and potential profits down the line - it's a joke)
Will it happen?

He should **** Sienna West live on PPV.
Yes, let's apply the triangle theory here. DURRRRRRRRRRRRR
I never said anything insinuating that b/c Cotto beat those guys that Pac would, too...THAT is the triangle theory. I just asked WHY he is targeting those guys b/c in my opinion the general publics reaction will largely BE the triangle theory once they find out Cotto already fought and beat all 3 before fighting Pac. Most will say "If Cotto beat those guys and Pac beat Cotto...then Pac will murder them. Why should I pay for this?" Right??!?!?
well with the exception of Paulie, Mosley & Clottey are top tier WWs ...
who else would he fight? probabaly Berto if he beats Mosley ...
@ Spray_Resistant ....
imho, I dont think there is a clear WW champ just yet but Mosley should be considered as the No. 1 atm ...
