But Floyd is at fault for at times complaining that he doesn't get respect...well your not gonna get respect when you act like him...
Yea Floyd wants respect for sure, I don't think he cares if people like him or hate him but he does want respect. I
It is his fault for sure though but he made it way bigger in boxing then I ever though he would. I don't even entirely get how people hate him so much since he sucks at talking, he is annoying but damn you think cats would be able to tune him out after a while instead it just builds and builds like nails on a chalk board.

I think he does this for a reason. He knows that his fighting style does not appeal to the casual boxing audience. He has to step up his out of the ring antics and personality in order to fill the seats. Anyone who watches WWE know exactly what I'm talkin about.
I never cared too much about the personal lives of fighters as they are not role models. PBF is not an evil guy but his cockiness and inarticulate choice of words gets him in trouble. He thinks he is better than Sugar ray leonard and Sugar ray Robinson? Than something is very wrong. SRL beat 4 Hall of fame fighters who are probably top 80 in many lists in Benitez, Duran, Hearns, and hagler. That dosent include noteworthy fights as Kalule who was undefeated southpaw and Lalonde who had power with an enormous reach advantage. But mayweather makes a big stink that an old leonard was knocked out by camacho. Perhaps Mayweather didnt like that SRL beat Mayweather SR in his heyday?
Robinson beat 7 hall of famers and was like 102-1 after 103 fights-something close to that ballpark. Mayweather's only win against a hall of famer is DLH and possibly Corrales. The HOF is very selective and i dont think hatton is a sure bet to make it.
Mayweather contradicts himself. He says that Gatti was a paper champion and yet he fights him anyway at 140. He says pac is an easy fight and yet he demands olympic style testing for an easy fight?
it's interesting, because a lot of boxing fans hate him, but hey seem to enjoy hating him. i guess you could say they love to hate him.
he's like the boxer you love to hate. it's a clever marketing strategy.
His stupidass stans on here don't seem to understand this shit for some reason. Always cryin bout his "haters." The man wants people to dislike him, so they do. Cut n dry.
ah.
true to a point. but.. He does that for casuals. The reason he throws in other efforts (being respectful after a match, claiming he's changed his life on interviews, etc), seeming to toe the line between likable and non likable...is to keep his fanbase, which he does have one..
Floyd basically wants both love and hate.
i didn't say his strategy was to be loved.
he acts in a way that gets him hated to sell tickets and get press but he wants to be loved.
it's contradictory but that's how i see it.
Is this speculation or has he said from his own mouth that he wants to be loved?
The way Floyd fights implies that he is fighting in the way he trained to fight. That's why he trains like he does. To influence the manner in which he fights.
That's his marketing strategy. This is how he markets his fights.
i would agree with this if he didnt cry so much that people hate him or not root for him.
Seeing his father and uncle i believe floyd along with his relatives is just naturally an asshole and an unlikable character.
It would be a different strategy in some senses, and yet the same in some others.
If, on his current strategy, people love to hate him, would the opposite strategy require that people hate to love him?
Alternatively, if his marketing strategy was to loved, would he need fans to both hate to hate him and love to love him?
Floyd doesn't REALLY want people to hate him, he wants them to love him but he never got the attention he wanted or felt he deserved and so decided that making people hate him would garner him that attention and decided to play that role. That is why you see a lot of frailties in his personality when presented with confrontation or criticism, confusion from within himself.
If that makes sense
This.............
I think Floyd has been trying to turn it around since the Hatton fight. I think Floyd assumed everyone would back him when he fought Hatton because it was a Brit vs USA showdown.
He has also been trying to tone it down since coming back, JMM fight being an example.

If his marketing strategy was to be loved rather than hated then his marketing strategy would differ from the one I laid out above. It would be a different strategy for sure.

imo he just needs an ass whooping
him suffering his first loss will mature him in 2 a fighter i would respect much more
plus he can learn a lot from and ass whoopin
.........Same difference........:chomp:
a little but still a difference.
people don't just turn out to see floyd get beat.
they turn out to see their man beat floyd.
Are we to believe he is a thoroughly nice bloke in real life? you can see a mile off that he is a racist/ignorant no class mofo.
Sometime its not hype, sometimes what people say comes from the heart.
