The thing that makes me wonder is... I have the feeling that he can't really relax in the ring... he is very tense... he has to learn that... if you are so tense and you fight guys who can stay in there with you and can catch up to you your concentraion will get the best of you... you will loose stamina faster etc. reflexes will be gone or not at least what they are usually are... a little bit comparable to DLH... guys like Jones, Mayweather, Toney, Hopkins even Pacquiao are simply relaxed in the ring... he has to work on that... everything else will come by itself...
I wholeheartedly believe the relaxation part will come to him with age. He's only 23, after all. Technically he's not even a man yet! At that age, you can still have individuals who are youthful in the way they conduct themselves both in and out of the ring. Khan just happens to be one of those people who are naturally 'on-edge', so to say - he's always a bit perky and wide-eyed during interviews, rather than totally laid back like Mayweather or Cotto.
However, I noticed a significant calmness about him during the Salita fight. It was only a minute, but he already looked like he was in full control at all times, even when he had his man laid out. The old Khan would've gone in swinging wildly and not composed himself after the first KD, but this Roach-coached Khan is gradually becoming an intelligent boxer with each fight, who lets his shots go only when he sees the right opening (like Rigondeaux).
And think about this - Pacquiao always looked so wild and eager to go in his early fights, which got him into all sorts of trouble with the likes of Torrecampo, Sangsurat, Morales and Marquez. Nowadays he's much calmer and focuses his energy into accumulating damage with a hailstorm of accurate punches, rather than loading up on that one big left hand.
Wlad is another one who was far too nervous in his younger days, and hence got caught repeatedly by Sanders because he wasn't relaxed in that opening round. But look at him now - he's one of the most relaxed fighters I've ever seen, and everything he does is on his terms. He doesn't allow anyone besides himself to dictate the pace in that ring, and thus he is always in command without even a hint of tension.
Khan will command Maidana if/when they meet. I see it going somewhat like the Ortiz fight, except without Khan being so stupid as to trade with him up close - everything will be done from a long range (his reach is insane; look at how far across the ring he stretched his entire frame to catch Salita the first time), and he'll look to hold whenever Maidana gets too close.
If people think this will be Prescott-Khan all over again, I'm totally confident that they're wrong. More than 2 years ago, Khan was a naive young lad in that ring who thought he would have a go at charging at a huge puncher - he knows better now, and won't allow such a situation to happen again. If he gets hit (which is bound happen at this level), his maturing frame will allow him to dust off those shots and keep his composure.
NO he is not a very good boxer, he have a lot of speed and power but he doesnt have good skills he dont have good defence, his defence is the atac.
I dont think he became the P4P and I dont know if he win against Maidana
Dude's my favorite UK fighter. He has blazing speed, can box, and can crack. He has it all except that he lacks toughness. :grumble:
which is uncommon for a UK fighter.
Khan will be a good boxer in five years time.

I like him... I don't worry that much about his chin... he has a good coach... and with good training, balance it is easier to take a shot... of course he will get hurt at times for sure but he has enough ability to survive it...

I would like him to fight a guy like Campbell... Campbell won't hurt him with his power but he will teach him a lot in the ring about toughness... and the tricks and traits of boxing... it woul be a winnable fight for him and a good learning experience... he is still so young... and in the future because of his speed and all that... most guys will try to rough him up and throw him off his gameplan... he has to learn to handle it
Anythings possible, but he hasn't shown us if that chin can hold up against real competition. If he faces Maidana we'll know.
I agree. He's got great technical skills but I still question his chin.
