I hate the way Pacman fans accuse others of downplaying his wins when his actual camp downplay them as well. I can give video links of interviews with Roach and Ariza if anyone thinks I'm talking crap. They downplay Oscar, Hatton and Cotto.
De La Hoya was garbage but Pac is just better than Cotto and Hatton...
I don't know what the hell Hatton thought he was doing...tryna jump on Pacquiao...
Bully...In Roach's words, Oscar was past his best, Hatton was easy and not very good according to his 24/7 interview and Cotto is damaged goods, hasn't recovered from Margartio. That wasn't trash talk, that was after the fight stuff when the respect is there and hype has gone. I'm not talking about fighters who talk shit to each other in pre fight conferences.
To an extent I agree, however the Cotto win was huge, and Hatton was the best jr WW in the world. I also gave pacquiao no chance against oscar.
Pacquaio win over Hatton was at Hattons optimum weight after Hatton had one of his best performances in years. Floyd fought him at 17. Floyd was also a 2-1 favorite over Oscar, and Hatton was an 8-1 underdog.
Ali used to call Foreman a slow predictable bum, and Frazier a limited fighter.

Have you ever heard that a boxer told the media that he will not win the fight because his opponent is good?
It's normal for a boxer to claim that he is better than his opponent. This is to gain confidence. Trash talk is different.
I agree with you man, unfortunately those comments were made after their fights, when trash talk goes and respect is shown.
I refer you all to 24/7 Cotto vs Pacman and Roach saying "the thing about Hatton, well, I know he was a world champion but, he wasn't very good".

And when does Floyd "big up" his opponents exactly then?

That my friend is an important ingredient to trash talk, downplaying from either camp just helps fighters (or their trainers) gain a mental edge.
Peace.

So do most boxers.
I don't want to talk about Floyd, but I will.
He downplayed JMM as a small guy, yet jumped to P4P 1 OR 2 after it.
He has called Pac a small guy and he will beat him.
OR
boxers overplay themselves like, I'm stronger, faster, more skilled which is like saying he is slow, weak and is a caveman.
