Some say it's the intangables like heart and determination. Others say it's the physical gifts like speed, power, agility etc. More will say it's a combo of the two. The reason i ask is because I think greatness is something recognized by all, but when comparing two fighters, it becomes a matter of personal opinion.
Example:
Roy jones in the 90's was the greatest in that decade. However, he never had to show the heart that a fighter like jcc showed. Both fighters were great, but for totally different reasons. So who's greater.
I just want a differnt perspective on greatness in boxing. What yall think?
roy jones was one of a kind,so physically gifted nobody could challenge him
aside from that, its all about being in great fights and dominating people who were meant too beat you up,things that guys like pacquioa, calzaghe, hopkins etc have done

i think if your willin to fight a couple of great fighters while making it look easy, your gonna be ranked alot higher than if you were to just have alot of wars and disputable wins
Well, there is a criteria that separates a boxer from a brawler, and for me that is the intelligence during the clash. A random brawler, would go starting from the premise: "I'll beat his ass up, I'll smash his head etc.". While, a great boxer has intelligence and for example, delivers 4 punches and doesn't get hit (immediately) by the opponent. It's a mixture of natural abilities and intelligence, in the first place.
