Golden Boy Productions has shown that throwing money around to key outlets gets you what you want better than hard work.
They want to turn the advantage with their "big name" to help their fighter. With media outlets like HBO and ESPN Friday night Fights at their beckon call it is fairly easy to gain an advantage. This was a huge worry of mine when Oscar Dela Hoya bought the Ring Magazine and it's respected "Ring Belts" along with it. I felt at the time that GBP had unbalanced power in boxing. Meaning they could pick who is who in boxing without anyone else really having a say in the matter. IE.. This guy is the 5th ranked contender this guy isn't ranked. This guy can get a title shot this one can't... etc, etc.
The dark aspect of having this authority is now rearing it's ugly head for all to see. GBP represents Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what could possibly be the biggest fight in terms of money in years. Knowing that Floyd may be physically over matched, for possibly the first time in his career, they are trying to get a psychological edge by imposing these unprecedented "hoops" that Pac must jump through before the fight can take place. It's not even an issue about if he is on steroids. This is a power move, an attempt to unnerve someone and make them feel less important. GBP is the big bully on the block and has transformed from the savior of boxing to the "Suge Knight" of it.
Would this even be happening if Pacquiao was a GBP stable fighter?
And where does it stop? How can any young up and coming fighter not resist the temptation to go with GBP? What will happen when Bob Arum and Don King are gone? Who will be able to balance the power of boxing?
Manny did to Oscar what Oscar did to Chavez sr. But chavez sr took it like man and moved on. Now his sone is primed to kick DLH ass. I hope DLH takes easy fights to get back on the scene. And JR gets his beast mode on to embarass oscar worse than manny did. And sr can get the last laugh and so will I. Muaaahaahahaha. Muahahahahaha hehe muahahahaha
lol at ur laugh.....Muahahaha....sinister laughs....

goldenboy are a disgrace. a superstar of the sport is being accused of skullduggery by a promotional company without no merit, but to simply discredit a fighter that has beaten their fighters and rejected an offer to be apart of the company. we all see the true colours of oscar, a peice of swine.
I agree with the TS why can't anyone see that GBP and the Mayweathers are playing fvckin games? they have nothing else better to do obviously. I have actually said some real good shit about GBP in the past and I've always been open to they're idea's. But this is some nasty, greazy, coward shit. GBP is kind of showing they're true colors. I really don't think they're agenda is to rejuvinate the sport because this is doing nothing for it. I think they are trying to monopolize the sport. By trying to pursuit, persuade and if not destroy the stars that they don't have under they're banner.
i agree with everything you have said so far.

:soapbox: haha.. Yeah, with everyone arguing about Pac and Mayweather they are forgetting what the real problem is. Oscar Dela Hoya and Golden Boy Productions. It's only going to be a matter of time before your favorite fighters are affected.

Well. When youb have active/maybe retired fighters controling operations there is sure to be a conflict of interest. That is like putting Peyton Manning in charge of the football schedule every year.
A boxing channel and more boxing on tv like UFC does it is the way to go. Boxing would be back on top if there wasn't so much greed and corruption and the top promoters would do what is best for the sport...
Thanks for everyone for answering the question seriously and honestly. Everyone does have their own point of view in this. Of course anyone that is a member of GBP is not going to say bad things about them. I'm just saying once they do finally have full control of boxing... what happens then?
Do you really believe it gonna be all good? What if the next young Floyd Mayweather comes along and pisses off a GBP executive, what would keep that GBP executive from damaging that young man's career in pure spite. Every large company needs someone else to keep an eye on them. Even the United States has the President, Congress, and the Supreme Court to prevent one person from running the whole show.
someone will come along they always do,maybe after retiring for good mayweather could do it with some help from others, also i can see gbp splitting up in the near future, maybe mosley sets something else up?to be honest all the promoters are a bunch of wankers, most of them dont really care about the fighter, its all about the money:lew:
