: Are you aware of the ongoing crisis surrounding the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight? "Most definitely." GL: Do you have an opinion on it? "You could see Pacquiao's side, why should he change for Floyd? A fight don't start in the ring, it starts when the negotiation starts. If these are the rules, we're going to stick by the standard rules. On the other hand, I understand he's saying something been going on, but the problem with that is, if you're going to check him why didn't you check Marquez? Why didn't you make anybody else do it? It's kind of strange to call him out on this and nobody else."
: Do you see anything in Pacquiao that would lead you to feel suspicious?
RJ: "No. The kid is strong, he came up in weight and brought his stregth. Nowadays the testing is good enough, they got it to where you can't even take over the counter products. I can testify to that. The testing is very good right now and there's nothing he could really do that they can't find. Why make Pacquiao take the test and not anybody else?"
: Would you have made such a concession for John Ruiz or any of your other big fights?
RJ: "Hell naw. Why change the rules on me? Because I'm coming up in weight means I'm doing steroids? They're giving you a test for that anyway. It would be something that would aggravate me because then after I beat you, I was on something, don't play with me. Either you want to fight or you don't want to fight.
There was no lineal champion at SMW when Roy moved up to SMW... but James Toney was ranked #1, and not only that but he was #3 on the p4p list.
When Roy went back to LHW in 2003 after beating Ruiz... Tarver was ranked #1 by the Ring. And after Roy beat Tarver, Tarver was still #2 and Darius was #3 by the ring rankings.
Your argument was he never beat the #1 guy at any weight class, and that isn't true.
Actually there was lineal champ at SMW.
Victor Cordoba (1991-1992)
Michael Nunn (1992-1994)
Steve Little (1994)
Frank Liles (1994-1999)
And, to me when you are the lineal champ you are the #1 fighter. You are the man in that weight-class. You are the man, who beat the man, who beat the man.
At LHW Dariusz was the lineal champ. Rink #3 but Dariusz was the lineal champ. And, again the lineal champ is the #1 guy. You beat the man, who beat, who beat the man. Which all that makes you the man...
So Roy never ever beat the #1 guy. He never fought the #1 guy.
A number of lesser known fighters have admitted to me that they have used things like anabolic steroids and HGH to gain an edge. I have heard whispers in gyms of more famous guys but nothing I can substantiate with proof.
I can tell you that it's not just heavyweights using PEDS. It's lightweights, welterweights, anyone who is looking for an edge. I have heard of champions in featherweight and lightweight divisions using steroids to take their games to another level.
Ahtletes are always looking for an edge, hell not even just athlete any human that is any competitive situation wants an edge. PED are not some magic wand that will make some average guy great because it is a huge leap in overall ability, but a already great fighter who has a strong work ethic that can be a pretty large edge. It would be kind of foolish (to me anyways) to think PED are not more common in boxing because really it does not come up that much, in a sport like boxing I would have to imagine more of that kind of stuff is going on.
It would also be a mental edge to know you are on something that makes you better, and the brain when conviced of something can do incredible things.

Have been saying this a lot about boxers and individual sports in general, They would take anything that would give them an edge if they can get away with it especially in boxing.
Since you said that, which weight divisions are we talkin' about and what type of PED's are you talkin' about ?
I can imagine HW's are probably swimmin' with 'roid users. How about the JMWs and lower ? I would think it would be EPO's or something like it that would be the drug of choice amongst the lil guys.

Jones knows what's up. F*ck Mayweather.
surprised to hear that from you, kinda disappointed...
it shouldnt be a surprise jones has sided with pacquiao, as much as i love jones, that man has taken some illegal substances in the past and that aint cool
Was Jones confirmed on roids? I could have sworn it was ripped fuel which is a dietary product and it caused a false positive
He tested positive for andro in 2000, which was legal until 2004 and was available over the counter until 2004. The guy he was fighting, Hall, had twice the amount in him that Roy did... Andro was in ripped fuel..
The lineal Champion is the #1 right?
So Floyd went up to SMW when in like 1993? Michael Nunn was the #1 guy at the time.
And, after Roy went back down to LHW to fight Tarver. Dariusz M was the #1 guy.
They were the lineal champions while Roy was there.
Could Roy beat them? Yea... Was Roy better? Yes... But, he didn't fight them and you can't give them credit for that...

Floyd has power to demand respect. Floyd has the skills the bro. And, true he has not fought an elite WW yet. But, a little known fact about Roy is that he never ever in none of the weight-class he fought in fought the #1 guy of that weight-class. He never did. Not at MW. SMW, LHW, or HW. We can say that Floyd did fight the #1 guys in 3 of the 5 weight-class he fought in.
So if you going to shit on Floyd for not fighting an elite WW. Then you have to Shit on Roy too. Lets not use double standards. P4P skills bro Floyd has it over Roy... Roy was more dynamic, he was more exciting, but skill wise he was not better.
And, now I am pissed off cuz you got me defending Floyd...
Who was the #1 SMW before Roy moved up to SMW?
Who was the #1 LHW before Roy went back down to LHW after beating Ruiz?
I know right LMAO... I had to log off after that, I couldn't believe what I was typing lol...
Seriously I think some people let the hate get the best of them...
Yea that happens alot, I have all the respect in the world for anyone that gets in the ring to be fair unless i just wanted to be a Prick for a day or 2 but Mayweather isnt a soft fighter like Punchbag believes.
Like you pointed out Mayweather is in the Hopkins mode and the more reason why people like them last longer and take less punishment even when they get old.
RJJ although great in all respect but you knew when he got older and lost most of his reflexes he was done, He cannot afford to put his hands by his waist and just move his head anymore.

Regardless of who said it, this is an excellent point.
A drug cheat always sides with a drug cheat
I'm told he was let off, something about the state not having any rules in place for athletes caught doping.
Yea you're beginning to sound like a Flomo there for a minute lol.
