Which is a worse condition to place in a fight contract - an extensive, identical drug test for both boxers, or a catchweight for a title fight?
Which of those conditions could potentially effect the performance of a fighter during the actual fight? Or could they both have equal impact?
3-5 blood tests, 8-10 urine tests, all at completely random times.
They agreed to 3 blood test. 2 prior to the fight and one post fight. The post fight testing would have NO affect on the outcome of the fight.
As to the urine test. I piss 3-4 times a day at least and it doesn't hurt me none.
Is the testing an inconvenience, yeah but it has no where near the impact of a catchweight.
Having a bunch of slimeballs take a massive shit on boxing, try to undermine everything you've ever worked your balls off for and drag your name through the mud... is worse than two fighters agreeing to meet at a catchweight of 145 lbs?
What are you talking about? Were talking about worse in the sense of which addendum to the contract has a bigger impact on the fight.
Cotto looked great at 145lbs but even so having to come in at 145lbs still has a bigger effect than giving 2 blood samples over your training camp.
Hell he would only have to give blood 1 more time than he did for the Hatton fight.

Catchweight is tougher IMO. It directly affects a boxers physically. While giving 2 small blood samples over 10-12 weeks would have virtually no physical effects.

uhm...ok
Has nothing to do with my liking Cotto. You can't intelligently argue that a fighter coming down 2 pounds from his natural weight class doesn't effect him more than giving 2 blood samples during a training camp.
Did the extra weight change the outcome probably not but it effected him more than giving blood would've.

Just use common sense. If Paul Williams were to fight at WW and was told come down to 145lbs or take 2 test during your training camp. Which would effect the outcome of the fight more?

its nothing to do with what you are stating. Its just an ego issue.
