By Eric Thomas: In a recent news interview with Sports Talk 790, HBO analyst Max Kellerman says that World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao looks suspicious in the minds of boxing fans by not taking the Olympic style drug testing for his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, which was supposed to be taking place on March 13th. As of now, the fight is off because Pacquiao is refusing to have random blood tests before the fight. On the radio program, Kellerman said “It makes him look really bad and suspicious.”
Kellerman went on to say that he thinks that Mayweather has a point by wanting Pacquiao to take the drug tests, saying that the blood test is more effect than the NFL style test, which is what Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum wants.
Kellerman added that he thinks that Pacquiao is a better overall fighter than Mayweather, but that Mayweather would still likely beat him if they fought because of his longer reach and bigger size.
Pacquiao won’t escape this drug test by not fighting Mayweather. The word in the media is that other boxers will want Pacquiao to take the Olympic style test before they fight him, because they’ll want a level playing field. It doesn’t look good when a fighter refuses to take a drug test, especially when they’ve accomplished as much as Pacquiao has done in the past couple of years. Pacquiao needs to think hard and perhaps agree to the random tests because this problem won’t go away if he chooses to avoid it now.

Kellerman is dead right that pacman looks suspicious!!!
Pac dont look suspicious. Just flomos try twisting things to make them suspicious.
Its clear that Pac said tests weaken him for 3 days or so. So with tests so close to the fight, Pac wont be able to give training 100% so close to a fight. Which equates to about 10 proper traing days 14 days before the fight.
What is so hard to understand about that?
At least we know now that Manny have agreed to take the blood test and randomly with that. The only thing both camps are having trouble with is the protocol, 24 or 14? Only ten days different, Just accept it Floyd or have that image of the biggest Fraud/ducker/coward of Boxing.
I say you write down every Morons name that completely disagrees with Max on this issue, and you will have a list of posters that will always make the worst judgment calls on this forum. One of the most ridiculous question asked by pactards is "where is the proof". lol What do you mean where is the proof? Who said you need proof to suspect someone of doing something? If you had the proof they were doing something, you wouldn't suspect them of anything. We all have the right to suspect anyone of anything. No fighter can demand a test but you sure in hells can ask for one or how many more you want. The other fighter doesn't have to take the tests, but he sure does look guilty by not. That's where Pac is right now and if anyone can't see that, they belong on the list of Morons mentioned above. Plain and simple.
this is lame... Manny agreed to a far stricter test than required. He just won't bend over cause of floyd's smear campaign, now people are assuming that he is guilty before any proof presents itself.
His camp refusing doesn't mean he is guilty. It just means he won't be floyd's bitch.
said perfectly!
Like it or not, Kellerman is 100% right on this. And he's not the only one who's saying this in boxing. Lots of fighters, trainers and promoters are saying the same thing. And its not just about them hating. Pac has a chance to shut up all his critics forever by taking this test, but he's refusing? Where's there's smoke, there's fire. Sorry, Pac fans welcome to the real world of sports.
what is not accurately stated is that olympic style testing requires random blood testing all year around.. not just when fighters are about to fight... no fighter would ever submit themselves to year round random blood testing..that is the ONLY truly effective form of olympic style blood testing... ..
The best HBO commentator is Lennox Lewis.
You can tell when he wants to tell the other bastards to shut the hell up.
Lampley and Merchant are excellent with journalism though.

I like some of RA's stuff, but his motives are clear, he's promoting himself. How many people on BS had actually heard of RA the rugged man before this fiasco.
You're paranoid. :haha:
Truth is, I like Pacquiao because he's bringing more excitement to the sport of boxing than anyone since Tyson.
And I don't like this despicable smear campaign against Manny, and if Kellerman was a decent man he would call it what it is, instead of going along with it.
You see everything in terms of race and ethnicity - it's really not as simple as that. There is a media double standard for American and foriegn fighters, doesn't matter what race they are.
Funeka gets robbed,
Yeah, against another black fighter LOL! Yet you'll never admit that Froch got a gift against Direll. Also, you claimed Pacquiao would knock out both Pernell Whitkaer and Sugar Ray Leonard just to avoid voting for a black fighter in a poll. You said David Beckham was only popular in the US because he's half Jewish lol. You dislike ALL Jewish commentators and believe they love black fighters. You think Timothy Bradley only gets praise because he's black. So you can play the innocent game all you want Hitler Jr. You're just too cowardly to admit it. And I do appreciate Manny Pacquiao. What I don't appreciate are racist posing as boxing fans on website. That would be you.

Some of the test and not all of them? Pacquiao said that?
The offical statement from Bob Arum, who promotes the ****ing fight, is that they will only agree to give blood before the press conference, thirty days out and in the locker room after the fight. That's all, he's agreed to. Nothing more. Roach is saying something different but the last time I checked, it was Arum who said the fight isn't going to happen. If Pac really wanted this fight, he would tell Arum to comply with the testing, he hasn't done that, has he? NO, he hasn't. And its not Mayweather who determines when the tests are done.

That's not what he said. He doesn't want blood taken within 30 days of the fight. He's never agreed to the random testing, so stop making excuses for him.
Hahaha, Manny hasn't said anything. Its Roach talking he's not the boss. Pac needs to speak for himself, becuase there is total misinformation from both sides out there right now. And even though, I'm not the biggest Mayweather fan, he appears to be the one with nothing to hide.
As many boxers do steroids if not more than baseball players. If boxing had an Olympic style drug testing done than most fighters would probably test positive at some point, IMO.
Steroids will make a fighter a little better (not as much as so many seem to think) but it will never make an average athlete great! Either you have it or you don't, steroids only enhance those that do...
this is retarded.
manny said he is willing to undergo all the urine tests they want. also the blood tests, with the exception of no blood on the day of the fight itself. and there would be a blood test immediately after the fight.
you seriously they can take something and flush it out of his body in 24 hours?
ped's isn't some magical sneakers you can take on or off. what manny is asking for is reasonable. he believes taking blood would affect him physically. this is based on his experience were he lost to morales when blood was drawn from him before the fight. you can argue that it has no physical effects, but manny believes it and it would affect him mentally.
he didn't even have to agree with the never-been-done-before olympic style testing in the first place. there is no basis of him cheating.
That's not what he said. He doesn't want blood taken within 30 days of the fight. He's never agreed to the random testing, so stop making excuses for him.

If Manny doesn't care about what the MAJORITY of the boxing public thinks of him, then he should refuse to take the fight and risk being ridiculed for it everytime they bring up his name.
It's his call.
Whatever he decides, so be it.
Just don't complain about not being given a chance to clear your name when opportunity presented itself.
Good luck.
manny said he is willing to give blood, just not on the day of the fight itself. gotta go with what manny says.
He's only agreeing to some of the blood tests, but not all of them, so its not legit. HGH and other things cannot be detected with a urine test, so he needs to consent to the blood or he's going to kill his reputation forever.
Like him or not, Kellerman is right. This move makes Pacman look suspicious and now that even more potential opponents will request the same thing of him, makes it look worse. Manny needs to fix this PR disaster he has created and what better way to than simply accepting the random drug tests proposed.
