Chris Arreola - Took heavy shots (300+ punches landed) from Vitali and kept pushing forward.
Tomas Adamek - Just walked through a ton of shots from Cunningham and Banks.
Carl Froch - Taylor was able to knock him down, but other than that, he's never really been hurt. Not for more
Librado Andrade - He got dropped and stopped with a body shot, but damn, this cat has taken full force punches from the hardest hitters in the division.
Antonio Margarito - Got knocked out last fight, but before that, he'd get smashed and would keep going for more.
Rogers Mtagwa - Exposed Lopez' power or his chin is just that good?
Gerry Penalosa - He's a bantamweight, yet he goes up to 122 and eats shots without getting hurt.
Johnny Perez - Was in a war against Agbeko and just kept coming
Joseph Agbeko - See Perez
(Nobody with good-great defense counts)
I know it is Q. I try to drop some knowledge when I can.
I think Penalosa is either tough as shit, or JuanMa's power is overrated because JuanMa literally picked up the kitchen sink and threw it at him and Penalosa wanted to go more.
I hear, I try sometimes too.
Penalosa didn't even get visibly dazed even though duke was about to set records on him.
'The punches that hurt the most are the ones you don't see coming', that's the reason I had to rock with Adamek. Duke would get rocked, Cunningham and Banks were sitting down on their counters and he'd keep going forward.
I like this thread. It's always a good one. HBO gets things wrong especially Lampley I've noticed.
All the guys you have are tough and faced some tough people.
Adamek was dropped by Briggs but early. He's a brave dude.
Arreola dropped by Walker
Mtagwa ko'ed by 2 journeymen.
Andrade dropped bad by Yusaf Mack then ko'ed by Bute
Margarito dropped before a couple of times then ko'ed by Mosley
I was gonna leave Mtagwa off of it because I remembered him getting dropped 3 times against Villa, but I left him on from his last showing.
The thing is Adamek, Andrade, and Arreola were dropped in the first round or close to it. Any fighter can get caught cold, but they don't get stopped unless they're softened up.
This is a popularity contest anyway, even if I put Poon up, he wouldn't get many if any votes.
The way he took Hearn's/ Mugabi's punches was insane.
He had a steel body also. Some guys take blows to head well but not the body. For example, he urinated blood after the Mugabi fight due to body damage; but never went down.
He also took some vicious shots from Duran, Minter, Roldan, Geraldo, and the first Antefuermo fight. His only official KD was half slip and half punch in RD1 of the Roldan fight. It was one of those shots that get you in top of the head and you are off balance. It also happened to Hearns in the Benitiez fight. Hearns got a flash KD after a Benitez partial connect. Benitez also went down in the same fight.
Caballero dropped him the 8th round of their fight.
:)
2004
**** the HBO announcers that said that shit in the Lopez fight then. Can't find that ****ing fight anywhere.
Answer me this... Why do these assholes complain about all the Mayweather-Pacquiao shit, but when a thread like this is posted, the shit falls to the bottom.
Yeah these are all tough guys, but most have been dropped.
Doesn't mean they aren't tough or can't take a good shot.
I want to make that distinction here.
Pretty much any fighter can get dropped while cold. These guys are taking shots they aren't even seeing coming from good hitters.
The ts original list has some holes in it.
I tried to pick guys who either never ever got even knocked down.
I mean I could run through the list and give examples of how some guys were down except for my picks :)
Ponce De Leon had never been down either. What heavy hitters was he proving it against?
Paulie's chin is pretty good, but the last time it was legitimately tested was Cotto
Paulie's chin is pretty good, but he doesn't take many solid shots like these cats. Most of these guys have taken shots that they don't even see coming and keep walking forward.
He looked like he was getting buzzed everytime Hatton hit him too.
Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym
Never been down in 40 fights.
Oliver McCall
Has never been stopped in 65 fights.
This would be my two picks for current guys.
I was thinking about Poon, but who have they been against?
McCall is kind of irrelevant, but yeah he qualifies for one of the best chins def.
IDK about Arreola being #1 on your list he was put down by Travis Walker. I just think Vitali is not punching as hard as he was when he was younger due to chronic injury.
Have you seen Walker's KO %? He might gas after the first 2, but he can crack and Arreola basically put his chin out there. Not only that, but he dominated right after.
Where is Vitali on the list? Arreola's chin didn't look too good in the Travis Walker fight.
Other than the Lewis fight, can you show me a fight where he took the type of shots the guys on the list have.
Vitali barely gets touched, let alone hit in the head.
That's a good list. You pretty much have them all down, Shane deserves a mention. I was gonna say B-Hop but B-Hop has a really good defense. Anyway, greatest chin of all time is Hagler. Just wanted to add that.
That's my all time pick too.

I think Paul Williams has a great chin.
As does Shane Mosley.
I would've put Mosley, but his defense is pretty good. Better than these guys at least.
I would've put PW, but I could only have 10.

He's changed his style he throws more Jabs than he's ever done, i believe he set the record for jabs thrown in an heavyweight fight last time out.
IMO him being weight drained and taking all those shots from Mosley did him in. I wouldn't bet against him until I see him hurt in a fight again.
It'll be soon bro.
No disrespect, I like Marg.
