In yet another great fight staged by a german promotor in 2009, Jürgen Brähmer overcame russian Dimitri Sukhotsky despite several rocky moments and a bad cut.
The 10'th round was particularly bad for the iron-chinned Brahmer, as the russian hammered volley upon volley of hard unanswered shots to the germans head. BILD counted 46 headshots in the brutal sequence before Brahmer was sent to the doctor to have his nasty cut inspected. That move by the ref just might have saved Brahmer his championship as a more compassionate referee would have stopped Brahmer at that point.
The last 3 rounds can be seen below. The brutal sequence I mentioned above starts almost immidiately:

Brahmer can still have a fine career. Outside of Dawson there really isn't anyone that I wouldn't say Brahmer cannot beat.
Did you watch him take a beating by Garay? I think there are plenty guys who would beat Brähmer easily.
Nevertheless Brähmer showed tremendous heart, but he didn´t fight smart.
I feel like this fight was a robbery tbh, because it had to be stopped. Reminds me of Abraham-Miranda I.
That's what I mean... if Brähmer is a millenium talent then it's sad for Germany and for me... I'm not saying that he is a total looser or something he has some skill and some beard but to me... he will loose as soon as he fights a good opponent... add on top of that that his hunger for training and honing his skill is at least questionable... to me he is simply overhyped you know...
I never liked Maske to tell you the truth... I also never really liked Ottke... I appreciate boxing fundamentals... and there is a difference between moving and running... Mayweather, Whitaker these guys are movers... Ottke is a runner.
Frenkel can be bad... he also seems to have a swagger about him. Let's hope he stays focused and doesn't start to believe his own hype... he reminds me so much on Abraham... with a little less power but with better boxing technique... could be something in the making

Lol I wasted countless saturday nights hoping Ottke would lose. I detested his style.
Frenkel needs to be tested and he is ready for a step-up. I've seen him several times on TV and live on the Kessler-Perdomo card. I wouldn't say he has less power than Abraham. That guy Frenkel packs a solid wallop and has the tools and the charisma to be a big star.
The other guy was tired. If he had more power, he woulda dropped and had an easier fight IMO than die. You never know but it's all about maths when it comes to a 10 rounder.
A stronger puncher would have dropped him earlier for a TKO.
Brähmer maybe the baptised 'jahrhundertstalent' (millenium-talent) in Germany, but he doesn't fight like that. Still you should be proud of the guy. He has tremendous heart and isn't to bad. He's actually quite good.
And he's much more entertaining than Maske or Ottke.
Oh yeah and Frenkel can prove to be a real badass. He's a killer.

Thanks for that, I didn't watch the fight. I read that the Russian fighter had Brähmer in trouble, but that was really bad, clear TKO in my opinion. Kudos to Brähmer for having a lot of heart and for not just taking a knee or clinching more in that situation, but still...it's stuff like that that adds oil to the "you need a knockout to get at least a draw in Germany"-fire...
You have to take what is given to you, and Sukhutsky failed to put Brähmer down. As I said some ref's might have stopped the fight, but on the other hand some wouldn't. I'm 100% certain that Steve Smoger would have let the fight continue as well.
I live in Germany and they call Brähmer here a once in a century talent... but plz don't ask me why... I've never seen it... he is ok but that's all...
That's why I always almost puke when I here Americans running down their fighters... be happy that you guys have fighters like Mayweather, Roy Jones, Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor etc.
The only ones I feel are interesting are Abraham, Sturm (if he finally fights some real fighters again) and some upcomers who could be something Frenkel for example...
Other guys like Huck are interesting to watch but they are no real boxers... the art of boxing is pretty much lost in Germany
The fight should have been stopped... I think his trainer was about to go on the ring apron as you can see down in the corner... but it was punishment against a guy who had a 14-0 record... but pretty much against nobody's... that's how hard it is for the super German talent to beat someone... if Brähmer should ever get into the ring with a guy like Dawson it will be a slaughterhouse...

I see no fault at all in having a guy with that much heart and determination representing my country. He took a hell of a beating and still kept trying. You should be proud of him. That was incredible that he kept standing.
Very ugly sequence, but then again he lived through it, so sometimes these episodes shouldn't be stopped... But I agree, had the opponent had just a little more power, it wouldn't have turned out good.

Abraham is legit, the Klitschkos are legit, Haye is legit and Khan is legit. No one else i can think of immediately right now. Legit: Justify the hype.

Brähmer dominated the fight for some seven rounds, then Sukohotsky got stronger. The 10th could have been a TKO - Brähmer was almost helpless in that volley, and it's almost unbelievable that he didn't fall. The break to check the cut saved his belt, to be sure.
