Both guys are two of the most exciting fighters in the sport and humble guys to go a long. You can hate on Floyd (boring style, big mouth), Calzaghe (slapping, cockyness) but you can't hate on these guys.
i never really hated any boxer...i respect all boxers that go out there to fight...shit i could sit there and watch two nobodies box eachother and it could get boring as hell and i will totally be satisfied just because i love the sport....i have my likes and dislikes...like i dont care for pacman to much but he is an excellent boxer and hes the one to beat...even calzaghe...i REALLY dont care for him..but will i watch him? yup..it was his slapping all over the place style that threw people off their game and i respect that...
not me......let me in on why Floyd is so so so so overhated here?!?....I want a LOGICAL grown ass man reason and not some highschool ass reason.....:cool2:
Yo wuth up my man?? I think it is directly related to the fact that Floyd just doesn't care to give the fans what they want. He draws and to me hs is defintely the P4P Most Skilled Fighter in the game. I think for me it has to do with claiming to be the best with out ever really proving it. Yeah we say to one another if Floyd fought XYZ opponent Floyd wins. On paper he could be the best that ever has laced up gloves. The point that i was trying to argue with Horus is that to be the best you have to fight whom ever is relevant in your division at the time you are active. You can look back at alot of ATG and disect their resumes now but at the time the fights were made they were very relevant. For many fans they look at Floyd and I can compare him to Sugar Ray Lenoard to some degree Lenoard basically had a career sim to Floyd in the fact he retired and came back for big fights. At the time when Floyd retired he had a division that was loaded with talent. (Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Quintana, Mosley, Berto, Collazo) For me I would have loved to see him clean out the division or at least fight 2 of those names. It appeared to the eye that he was ducking these fighers and retiring to avoid having to fight them and risk his 0. There are other things I could mention but for me this is key point for why I think he is so disliked. Another point to be made might be his attitude and the statements he makes. Whether or not he tried to be the villian in certain situations is a non factor it is the contradicting things that he says and does. This to me is mainly because he is playing his role and when you are trying to be someone you are not the smoke and mirrors routine catches up with you and hold that heavy piece of glass get tiring.....Lefty

Anyone who hates on a guy like Miguel Cotto is a complete retard and knows nothing about the sport of boxing. They are most likely fans of some fighter who likes to cherry pick his opponents and make a name for himself by fighting smaller less skilled men. Avoiding challenges in life will never make you feel a sense of accomplishment.
"I rather have tried and lost knowing I gave it my best than claim to be the best without ever really proving it. "
The one thing Cotto has in his heart is the sense of self pride and that enables him to fight anyone anytime anywhere. He proved that in the last 3 years. My hats off to Miguel and I will go on record saying I stand behind him in what ever decision he makes as far as retiring from boxing. That being said my selfishness for a fighter with his skills and heart won't allow me to let it go I would love to see him in there with FMJ, SSM maybe Berto? He has too much to give to not be appreciated.....Lefty

I think a lot of fans prefer one type of fighter over another. A lot of people like exciting fighters, and dislike technical defensive fighters. People will dislike Floyd's style of fighting and then also his demeanor in and out of the ring.
More so than anything else, I think a lot of people on the internet just like to talk shit.
I think anyone who hates any boxer is not a boxing fan neither the sports itself, IMO.
I think we can say that "I'm not a Pac fan" or "I'm not a Floyd fan" but "I don't hate them"
HATING does not equate to - for NOT BEING A FAN, right?
yep ... at least everyone has a reason on why floyd is hated

only haters dont like manny or cotto, two exciting and brillant boxers,at the same time people who dont like pbf for his boxing style are haters aswell, seeing him put on masterclass boxing lessons over other fighters down the years has been brillant aswell, boxing is a art weather you fight on the front foot or if your fighting on the back foot
I don't think it's fair to hate on Floyd as far as his boxing style is concerned. Anyone who appreciates boxing loves watching Mayweather fight. His skills are unparalleled. People say he's a boring fighter, but to me it's always fun to see a master work at his craft.
Never liked Calzaghe so I can't defend him here.
