Vazquez and Marquez looked sensational in their wars. Cotto beat Mosley. Calzaghe went up because he beat Kessler. Marquez beat Barrera and that got him props.
Plus inactivity too.
That's why he fell to #9 by the end of 2007, but I'm thinking about his ranking going into the Hopkins fight. I don't know for sure what it was, but I'm guessing it was close to his #3 at the end of 2006. Maybe J.M. Marquez jumped above him with the win over Barrera, or Rafael Marquez with his win in the first fight over Vazquez. I don't think Cotto went above him by beating Judah, as the win over Mosley was in November, just like Calzaghe-Kessler was (Hopkins-Wright was July).
Yeah, he was #3 at the end of 2006, and #9 at the end of 2007.
Exactly what he was in the middle of the year, right before he fought Hopkins in July, it's not listed. But what fighters ranked below Wright did a whole lot during the first half of 2007 to jump above him?

SO it's not the 2007 issue? Because Hopkins beat him in late 2007.
And in the 2007 ranking, he was at # 9.

don't rely on boxrec rankings...just look at their p4p list now
Excuse me, I was asking Thread Starter. And nobody is looking at boxrec but at Ring Magainze rankings.
I wanna know for debating purposes via private email.
He was ranked #3 at the end of 2006.
