even Im a much bigger fan of Bernard Hopkins I think Roy Jones deservs to be da winner of this poll.
and my vote goes tooooo ROY. congratulations. :damnit:
Ps: I dont think just because Bernard was bigger than his opponets, he won. bullshit hater-thinking.
See, this is where your precious footage starts to fall apart. You talk about Hopkins beating "smaller men" but you don't even care to enlighten us with the details surrounding Jones' fight against Toney. So before you rattle on with your bogus then why don't you tell us about how Toney lost 47 lbs in just 6 weeks prior to the fight? You saw the fight didn't you? Toney was as soft as wine gums but Jones still fought cautiously in 12 boring rounds.
The Executioner by a mile...
Sure all of that is true. You could make an excuse about any single fight.
Doesnt change the fact that Hopkins best wins were all against smaller guys. Im not trying to take anything away from Hopkins, hes great, I just think what Roys done was more impressive.
Why do you idiots actually think RJJ was ranked higher as an ATG than BHOP??? BHOP fought way better oppostion..RJJ may have had a slicker and more exciting style in the ring but he dont even come close to Hopkins legendary victories..
This thread just proves how dumb most of you on boxingscene truly are.. It reminds me of the thread when someone asked "Bernard hopkins and Roy Jones: Who had more skills and who had a better legacy?" You dumbasses said Hopkins had better skills and Jones had a better legacy..WTF??????????????
The problem with Bhops biggest wins are that they were against guys smaller than himself. Guys who didnt have to skill to outbox him or the power to hurt him so that has to be taken into account. He only has one good win against a bigger opponent Tarver, while all of Jones best wins are against guys bigger than himself. Jones's best wins are Toney and Hopkins, who are better names than anyone of Bhops resume.
Resume
Hopkins > Jones
Hopkins: Pavlik, Tarver, Wright, De La Hoya, Joppy, Trinidad, Johnson, Lipsey.
Jones: Ruiz
Apart from Tarver and Joppy all the names on that list are blown ups and that has to be taken into account when comparing Hopkins wins to Jones's wins. Johnson was undeafted but he hadnt beaten anyone worth mentioning at that point. He would also go on to lose to the likes of Sosa and Sheika. Joppy was ok, just nothing special and can I assume you are joking by including Lipsey who started fighting as a lw?
All of Jones best wins are against guys who were either the same size as him or much bigger so Jones has to get the edge when comparing legacies.

Jones most notable wins are over James Toney, John Ruiz, Antonio Tarver, B-Hop, Virgil Hill, and Montell Griffin.
B-Hop's notable wins are De La Hoya, Trinidad, Tarver, Glen Johnson, Pavlik, Winky Wright.
The problem is the longer Roy fights the more it hurts his career.
hopkins made the middleweight limit for ten years so he wasnt a natural light heavyweight was he?
ok scaled down lightheavy...whats the excuse now....and please don't take it back to the penitentary....
don't make me laugh...you can't compare hopkins to ali or foreman no way no how...
a natural lightheavy who only fought and beat one natural lightheavy.....in 20 years...that doesn't even qualify for atg...atg boxer/conartist maybe

That was clearly an example.
I like Jones - they both have some lackluster opponents in there in there really:
Jones had Fraiser, Hall, Harding...but at the same time Hopkins was fighting Robert Allen and Antwun Echols - multiple times each - even though he beat them. I think ten or fifteen years we can get a better perspective - Jones is not fighting the same level anymore and his post Ruiz opposition I think is tainting how people see Roy. I still think Roy did more over all though.
Hopkins. Better resume better career, dominant reign. and when a fighter loses his prime attributes that is when you see true greatness. See Ali and Foreman.

Agree. Well put.
What opponents did Hopkins faced that were better than the one's Jones faced?
I mean Jones could have easily fought former Welterweights/Jr Middleweights for his big fights and would never suffered any of those tko's if he had fought those smaller guys like Hopkins.
Toney
Ruiz
Woods
Griffin
Tarver
Hopkins
Harding
McCallum
Hill
Hall
Lacy
Is a much better resume than Tarver, Trinidad, DLH, Johnson, Wright, Pavlik, Echols, Allen, Joppy
i doubt if hopkins could even beat hill or griffin, he was scared of toney.
