Paulie has now beat Juan Diaz twice, and I am sure that there are still some people who will still find a way to hate. talk shit about his power, attitude, etc. but guess what? he's now again a Jr Welterweight Champion, so deal with it! he fought his ass off like he always does and he deserves some credit finally.
i'm trying my best dude. but everytime i see his plucked eyebrows, hair and pouty lips, i'm back to square one
you took the words right out of my mouth.
look, he's got some skill, malignaggi hasn't got the power or the dominate fight style to warrant show boating or any kind of taunting. to me, he really looked like a attention deprived child in the ring in his last fight. trying to act like roy jones, like he was in total control, all he had diaz beat was with footwork and hand speed, at least with his jab, he was slowing with his power punches but i noticed a second wind in there when the speed came back around for a round or two in the later rounds.
i just have to be critical of a guy who is acting as if he is dominating in a fight when he wasn't the one pushing the action and wasn't the fighter who was coming forward.
it's really not entertaining to see a guy fight, knowing that he's not going to stop anyone or the fact that it's going to be a 12 round cat and mouse game, it's the type of boxing that casual fans leave their seats for to get a some drink or food, or turn the channel to see what else is on or what other sports got going on.
another thing that doesn't sit well with me with malignaggi is his style, the whole package that is him, in and out of the ring. nothing against east coast, but his style of east coast and the whole guido thing coupled with the metrosexual look, and even his accent, and even some of his recent statements i haven't liked, accusing pacquiao of using roids with no evidence just pure speculation, BUT with all that being said, i do like and respect some of the CONTENT of what he says. I believe he has a good head on his shoulders and he says some real heartfelt stuff, i think what he talks about in some of his interviews is right, at least in the past, and i have always respected his honesty in a message to children or anyone really about living your dreams and working hard at what you do, and for that i respect him, i just don't agree with his persona so to speak, style if you will, but he stands for a positive message, imo.
Paulie just acts that way on camera and to the media because he thinks he should, behind the cameras to those who know him, he's a really good guy. It's a pity he's perceived the way he is.
Credit to him, I've only got to R.5 of the second Diaz fight but the kid can box.
yeah outside of the ring he is very serious and appreciative of his fans ive met him
ppl dnt get that he acts that way 2 make up for the lack of excitment in his fights due 2 his hurt hands when he taunts the crowd goes wildddd trust me i was there sat
You know, it's one of those situations in which the personality of the boxer overshadows his abilities. Therefore, there's a situation in which no matter what he does in the ring, chances are if you think he's a d0uchebag, you always will. Add that to the fact that just as some judges really value agression and active behaviour when they score rounds, some fight fans value a fighter's KO abilities when they decide if they like him or not. Personally, I like him. But I can really see why somebody wouldn't in the same breath.
