Should Floyd be really ranked ahead of Manny all time even if he wins? No fanboys

READ my post before saying i am insane. Please. I was doing serious thinking. People say this fight is to prove who is the best in our era. Well should one fight really decide this? Why not their resumes and what they accomplished opposed to one fight? Floyd Mayweather won belts at 130, 135, 140, 147, and 154. Two Legitimate titles at 135 and 147. Manny Pacquiao won belts at 147, 140, 135, 130, 126, 122, 112. Three legitimate titles at 126, 130, and 140. Mayweather's best wins are Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Zab Judah, Jose Luis Castillo, and Diego Corrales (RIP). Marquez and De La Hoya in my opinion are the only 2 Hall of fame locks on his resume. Pacquiao's best wins are, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera. Once again in my opinion, De La Hoya, Marquez, Morales, and Barrera are four Hall of fame locks. And Cotto is on the cusp. As you can see Pacquiao's resume is far more impressive than Floyd's in every way possible. And he has also accomplished more and beaten the far better fighters. Whatever Mayweather has done Pacquiao out did it times two. I dont think Mayweather should be placed ahead of Manny all time unless he convincingly beats him. Any close decision he deserves to be number 1 pound for pound fighter but not ranked ahead of Manny all time or the best of his era. Beating Manny would be a great start to being called best of our era, i still think he would need one more win or two to be ranked above the Pacman. I am prepared to get flamed. Seriously? No. ........... Mayweather clearly has had the better career. This thread is what's wrong with the world. Here we have a guy like Mayweather who has been on the world stage for twelve years. Has never lost, never hit the canvas, been hurt maybe twice in his career and Pac Man is better than him. I have love Pacman since Hamed was featherweight champ and what he has done lately is remarkable but that is lately. Pacman has been knocked out twice, has been down in another fight, lost to Morales and then beat him after Zahir Raheem beat him, got hurt against Oscar Larios. Pacman couldnt finish Marquez after knocking him down three times, got hurt against him in the rematch wanted to quit after he got cut open by Marquez. Openly ducked Marquez. Are we to forget this because his last four fights have been dominant. I give Pacman ultimate credit for his demolition of Oscar, Hatton and Cotto and Diaz for that matter but he has been pound for pound great for a shorter time than Floyd, Floyd has maintained his greatness since 98 He is the epitome of perfect boxing. He's defensive, he has a great jab, goes to the body, goes to the head, power in both hands. Let's give him his props. Now a win over Pacman isn't enough? WOW. Crazy!

Probably. And that's sad, because I don't even think he deserves it even if he wins. But it's about the head to head match up and you can't overlook that. It's like Pacquiao beating JMM, Barrera, Morales, and Cotto building the resume and then if Floyd beats him that automatically shoots him over Pacquiao based on one win because of that aspect.

No...if he destroys Pacquiao it'd be close tho...he has to win another fight to surpass Pac's resume as far ass opponents go... Outside of DLH, Floyd hasn't beaten any hall of famers IMO... Pac has beaten Barrera and Morales...

I think, legacy-wise, people will remember Mayweather as the better boxer, rather than the better fighter. Pacquiao holds wins over the better fighters, but it's sort of tainted, in my opinion. I had Marquez beating him twice. Many think that DLH and Morales were way past it, but he still has their names on his record. Mayweather, on the other hand, is the better boxer between the two. He did beat two Pacquiao's best opponents when they were more in their prime, but still, some of his victories are tainted as well. I think their fight will play a big part in how to rank them. I wouldn't be surprised if they rank the winner of the fight higher on an all-time great list.

this is all a matter of opinion to be real. I mean, I don't think we will ever get a definite answer to this. So many people can present so many cases with this topic. I'm just ready to see the fight to be real.

In short.... no. Pac rose above and beyond what was expected of him. Floyd has been performing below expectations as of late. I will be flexible enough to say that it depends on how Floyd gets the W. If he makes it a boring 12 rd decision, then no. If he KO's Pac late, probably not If he KO's Pac within 5 rounds, then maybe. Floyd will be ranked greater than Pac if he beats Pac in an exciting fashion and then goes on to beat Mosley-Berto winner as well as both P.Will and Sergio Martinez at 154. His legacy won't depend on this fight, but on how he does in future bouts. Pac's legacy is already cemented win or lose.

as of right now pac's resume' is better so i say no. but if floyd goes on to beat mosley then u can make a case for him
